FLYBAR PADDLE TIP
JULY 2008 // Issue #25

Some flybar paddles use stickers to cover up lightening holes. These stickers sometimes wear out and fly off during flight. This leaves you finding a way to keep your bird flying. If you were at the field, a piece of duct tape would get you by. Instead of applying the stickers, you can replace them with some shrink-wrap. Your local hobby store usually carries a wide range of shrink-wrap for making your own batteries. Find a piece large enough in diameter that will fit over the paddle. Shrink it down so that the edges of the shrink-wrap grip onto the edge of the paddle. This will insure they will never come off and will last the life of your helicopter. Of course, this will necessitate doing the same thing to both paddles and then reweighing, lest you have an imbalanced rotor head.
