I want to buy a sim that allows me to use my own radio (DX7) and has free upgrades. I refuse to use a sim where I have to use the sims substandard radio. Which sim is better? I'm a newbie, still learning to hover and get a handle on my Mini titan, so I can eventually do FF and other stuff.

XTR Reflex: http://www.modelrectifier.com/rc-pr...-simulators.asp

I saw the Reflex sim at the iHobby show and it has absolutely amazing graphics and flight characteristics. Only downside is no wireless connection to computer like other sims. OK aircraft library

Phoenix: http://www.phoenix-sim.com/welcome.htm

I've read a lot of good things about this sim, but have never seen it in person. From their Web site the graphics look amazing and on par with Reflex. Extensive aircraft library.

FS One: http://www.fsone.com/

I saw the FS One sim at the iHobby show and it has good graphics and OK heli flight characteristics. Allows wireless connection to computer. Have to pay for additional aircraft updates.

I left out Realflight because I want to only use my own radio with the sim and RF doesn't allow it.

Yes it does.

I've used my DX7 with Real Flight G3.5. It has an adapter cable that goes between your TX and the "TX" that comes with the sim.

Plus, there is an extensive base of user created aircraft and flying sites for it.

Oops, my bad. I didn't realize you could use your own radio. I assume G4 will do the same.

"The connectors on the InterLink Elite cord and included adapters make the InterLink Elite compatible with the trainer jack on most Futaba® and all JR®, Spektrum™ and Tower Hobbies® systems."

Yup. G4 will work with a DX7.

Plus, you could use the included "TX" if your TX battery is dead, or your TX needs repair.

With G3.5 / G4 you can go online and download:

294+ aircraft models
827+ aircraft variants
820+ aircraft color schemes
54+ photo fields
129+ airports
110+ recordings

All for free.

They are all user made, but there are quite a few high quality ones in there...

No surprise here, I vote for Phoenix.

And I'm a guy who owns 2 copies of RF. STILL owns 2 copies of RealFlight.

Phoenix is it! I'm not even going to go into detail, but REAL FLIGHT SUCKS, PHOENIX ROCKS!
You cant really get a more unbiased opininion, can ya?

You'll find that the MAJORITY of the guys who fly Phoenix now, all USED to fly Real Flight. ??? It's true.

Oh, and with Phoenix, there are no expansion packs, etc..
Why pay $40 for a few new flying sites and a couple of models?

On Phoenix, everything is free, and they add downloads all the time!
