Hello Crowd , I`m New To Rc Heli`s . My Big Question Right Now Is What Is The Best Simulator To Buy {considering I`m Getting An Align [unsure About 450 Se Or 600].i Have Asked 2 Hobby Shops , Both Give Me A Different Answer , So I Said Let Go Ask The People That Are As Crazy About This As I Am . Now Correct Me If I`m Wrong But I Have Been Told These Simulators Are Somewhat Manufactor Specific {to An Extent} . Any Feed Back Would Be Great . Thanks Helinut

Welcome to the addiction of RC heli-s You will love it,
This is what I have and it works for me, it comes with its own radio controller with USB cord and is easy to set up and run, recently they released a new version 3.5 which I downloaded FREE

This is the land of many opinions and you will get a lot of them from different people so it should give a good grounding on which to make your purchase decision.
Enjoy and good luck

I use Real Flight G3.5 - as mentioned above - slightly pricey - but consider the cost of whacking your new bird up quite a few times
( learning curve ), and you will see that it pays for itself in short order :)
- and hey, with a USB controller you're not stuck with any re-charging or replacing batteries !!
Some shops have them running in the store, and you can download a demo of this one here
http://www.realflight.com/
look down the left of the page - it's somewhat simplified but you can give it a run
for free :D
Do your research, and pick what feels right - you want something to "grow into" rather than "grow out of" ......................
welcome aboard
ps: choose your hobby shop "carefully" - you will REALLY get to know them well, and good advise and help is important........ after all, it's _ your _ money !

Why spend ANY money when most of us can go to the hobby shop and play with theirs for three hours... Right? Right?

My hobby shop sends heli newbies my way when there's a question! I don't mind...It gets me a nice discount! ;)

I WAS a sceptic of the whole sim game thing, but not now!
I have G3.5 and love it, if nothing else, you'll gain the motor memory in the thumbs as which thumb make the heli crash in a certain way,lol
There is a whole internet on how to use the sim, BLAH!!!!! remember why you started the hobby? Funnnnnnnnn!
so have fun with the sim, you will get it, one day it just clicks! I am playing with a cp pro clone type thing and just flying upside down! will I do it with my real bird? not for a long time, but!.... the mere fact that the brain is having to think upside down back to front and inside out, cannot be a bad thing!
Check my posts, I was against the high end sims, but I've changed my flag, lol. G3(3.5) gets my vote, it does exactly what it says on the box :D

You hit the nail on the head. It's teaching muscle memory, it's not all in "how to fly". It hones the motor skills while preparing you for the worst case scenario. Orientation, motor skills and muscle memory.
I learned without a sim and I wasn't very willing to drop the cash on one once I was already hovering inverted. I bought one and have seen a great inprovement.
Glad to see you finally came around (like me)! :D

Hello people
Can someone give me a hand!! Please :)
Now that the G3.5 upgrade is available on the public site, does anyone know if it’s worth while doing the upgrade again? The beta file was 229mb and I see the new upgrade is around 260mb, maybe you understand what the difference is I don’t have a clue any help would be appreciated!! :)
Cheers Ralph

There are some nice new fetures, start it before you go to bed if you're on a slow connection. I'm on a pretty fast one, it took maybe 20 minutes. :D

Don't quote me on this - but if the programmers write tight code and know what they are doing - being as you have the beta already - the upgrade ( in theory ) should check your end to see what you have installed and then should only download the changes that have been made since the release of that beta -
they probably didn't actually make that many changes, and the code should be in blocks ( ie: airports, skins etc ) - so if they have their stuff together, the upgrade from the beta should not be as big as upgrading from a non-beta status......
I don't actually recall what happened on my machine when I went that route - I was multi-tasking at the time and not paying attention - :)
this might be addressed on the "knife edge" forums ( i haven't looked there for awhile )
just some thoughts for you to ponder - "HOWS YOUR WEATHER" Ralph :D

Hello Td & phatchantz
Thanks for your replies guys
I will run the update latter tonight if I get time and I will see what happens, I have to say the 3.5 beta upgrade made a big difference to the old one!!!thats for sure :)
phatchanzt the weather is OK its been unseanonably cold but it is warming up now, the biggest hassle at the moment is a big bush fire running in the national park behind my joint, today is Saturday morning and the fire service is implimenting plans to contain this burn and I will be involved as I'm in the service, so time will tell at the moment its calm here, hopefully it will stay that way, chat latter :)

3.5 did seem to chew more resources, but I've not seen the major flight dynamics screw up that people complained about.
