Here's my site. It's about 8 miles from any town and no obstructions or houses for at least a mile. It's a nice aerial shot. Runways frun E-W and N-S both 400' long...Which is great for us heli guys and plankers because they can use the active runway and we can switch to the other since wind doesn't bother us. We have a sprinkler system ran by a gas-powered pump since there is no electricity for about a mile of it. The grass is like carpeting! Ample parking and lots of tables. I personally use my tailgate and set up a canopy over it.

That's an awsome site td, I'm jealous. Here in Long Island, land is at a premium. We fly in a small state park. Gotta watch out for trees on both ends of the site.

I am sooo jealous, that site is fantastic! finding a good flying site is becoming more and more difficult in many cities these days. not having any houses close by is key the the longevity of the field.

It is nice, the only problem is it's a little ways out of town. There's nothing but marshland or DNR owned Prairie Chicken lands all around nestled in an 80 acre hay field. The land-owner only charges us the taxes on the field for a yearly fee and then charges us $75 a time to mow. He bags it and piles it in the bottom of the pic. You can see the mulch pile which would be the NE corner of the field. Aside from Owatonna MN (smacc field), I have not seen a nicer field anywhere.
You can check out some more pics and vids on www.rivervalleyflyers.com

Let's see more flying sites, people!

Here's a view from space!

The field is about 120 yards to the facing tree line, the entire immediate field is about 350 to 400 yards long.

Here's the entrance road. :D I want to fly my heli down this road from the passengers seat while my wife is driving.

td, I want to come fly at your field next year when it gets warm again.

LOL I used to do that all the time with my planes! It was a blast!

Let me know! I'll give you directions!

Some of our members mentioned I should start a heli meet at the field. I have to admit, as daunting of a task as it sounds, I'd love to start one. Maybe I'll look into it this winter in my off season. Maybe draw some people by bringing in a bigger name or something. From what I understand, all they ask is the club to pay their way there and back. I guess it depends on who it is, though. Anyone have any experience with this?¿?

Thanks heliry2,

I went out yesterday morning flying @ my field. Usually my wife takes the pics, but it was to cold, so I brought the cam just for td's thread. I took five pics and photoshopped them together. Here it is. 36 degrees at the time of the pics.

That's a nice shot. It's nice to have a shelter out there for folks to congregate. The only thing I don't like about my field is that we can't put up any permanent structures. Not even a pole shelter. It's something to do with the zoning out there or something and the fact that we don't own the land, so for now it's a portable canopy for me.

Thanks td, I took 5 pics and attached them just for this thread.

You can't see it in the pic, but more to the right there's a trailer where we park the kubota tractor and smaller lawnmower. I cut the field now and again, it takes four to five hours to cut on the kubota with a gang mower that's about 96 inches wide.

The portable canopies are a great thing. I need to invest in one.

Here's a field I probably won't fly at anymore. :( I'm moving and I live much closer to my rc club field. :)

I'll miss flying here, this field was two minutes from my old home. That's a school to my left.

Those houses are almost a half mile away.

I've got a tech school that's about 7 minutes from my house. If I'm only going to fly for an hour or so I'll go there. There's 2 soccer fields end to end on it so all I need to look out for it the goals.

I don't have a photo, but here's a map (http://www.mstc.edu/pdf/mapwrcampus.pdf). I fly right at the north end of the map.

LoL

The field still looks good. :D and I do have a heli problem, I cut out of work early to go fly. :D

Notice this pic, my Tx{9chp}is closest at the bottom of pic. That's me with the red hat holding another Tx. Anyway, a friend brings me a plane or a heli to fly for him. That day it was a 3d foamie bipe. I was showing off again doing flat-spins, waterfalls, and harrier type rolls. Hovering this plane ten feet off the deck was a piece of cake. Can't wait to see what he brings me next time.

This pic is my club with a few other members.

Nice site, Motions! I wish we had a site that we could build and have power on. The only bad thing about ours is it's TOO far in the middle of nowhere!

That's the necessary evil of this hobby. You have to be in BFE to fly RC.

Is that you down on the field? or are you in a plane or heli taking the pic?or niether?

Here is our flying field it is ideal, there are trees all around it but they are a long way away from where you fly so helps cut down on the wind.

Here is where I have been flying lately, when I'm not traveling.
It is a small, tight knit club about 35 miles north of Charleston, SC. I must add, this is about the most heli-friendly field you could ask for. It has a good mixof young and old, and people couldnt be friendlier. Member dues are very reasonable, and there is no mowing.

One thing that sucks, as I experienced today, is that the flightline faces west. That means, anytime in the afternoon, you are looking directly into the sun, and you are forced to fly the corners of the field.

Check out the little visitor we had. It is a Green Anole. These things are all over the place down here in the south. I used to live in Wisconsin. (In Wisconsin Rapids, the LAND OF TDSWAN!!) These things were sold. These little lizards are sold in pet stores for about $10 a pop. Here, they are free.
