Does anyone have "experienced" opinions on these 2 helis? I'm looking to get one and the MX400 looks really nice and cheaper than Trex.

I'm told align parts will also work on the MX400.

I have had both. I like both. The X-400 (same as MX-400) is somewhat more stable in hover than the T-rex if both are buit stock.

This is due to the X-400 having heavier weighted steering paddles vs the T-rex unweighted.

I also had less quality problems with my X-400 build than the T-rex, parts fit a little better.

Now I have to say that the X-400/MX400 center head block design and teetering assy is IMO a very weak part of the heli compared to the T-rex.

Trex replacement parts are cheaper and found in abundance on the web. X-400 parts are tougher to find and more expensive.

Trex XL 315 stock blades are cheaper and much stronger than the X-400 woodies, but many use the Align 315 woodies on the MX-400.

IMO the MX-400 is a vastly improved (except for the head design) version o fthe T-rex 450X, but then they were designed by the same guy so it makes sense.

if it's your first collective heli, then the X-400 is more stable, and if you crash you can replace the rotor head with a trex or aluminum.

My opinion if I had to do it agian....get the Trex 450XL HDE kit instead of the MX-400. I know the MX-400 is built, but theres no assurance of the build quality, so you'll have to take everything apart and loctite it anyway and cjeck to see that its done right.

Thanks HAF.

I have owned a Blade CP for about 4 months. I also have a Raptor 50 v2. I'm getting a little frustrated with the BCP and wanted a real electric heli I can fly around the yard. I was thinking of getting a Rex because it seems to be more popular and parts are more available and competitive.

I don't know how big your yard is, but if its an acre then Trex is great.

For smaller yards like mine, the Honey Bee King is pretty nice. Its a step up from the BCP or Honey Bee CP2, has all the quickness and agility of the small helis but with a driven tail so you dont have motor burn outs or wild tail swinging like the motor tails do sometimes when they have to spool up for fast manuvers. It doesnt have the sticky head probs either!

I love both King and Trex, but they are definitely 2 vastly different helis as my Trex is almost 11oz heavier than the King.
