Yes, for all you rappy fans. I flew the TT50sized Raptor. It flew great, not as good as my Caliber5, but we all can't have the best. :p

Its not my Raptor. My friend likes to watch me fly it. There were to many people for him to be on the sticks. He hovered it for a minute. The pics are me at the sticks. :)

It was a bit on the lean side that caused a flameout  right as I was bringing it in to land. I had to auto it from 10 to 12 feet. Not a problem. ;) I floated it down nicely right at the edge of the field and chopped some high grass with the main blades. :D Here's the only damage, dirty blades. LoL

Nice! Hey how has he coloured the canopy? Just spray cans or professionally sprayed?

Also, are they the stock wooden blades? I would tell him to change those as quickly as possible. I've heard from a couple of Raptor owners of stories of the weights in the blades (that are stuck in by glue  ) coming out during flight. I've also heard stories of wooden blades just pulling themselves apart due to the stress of just spinning around so fast.... Scary....

Got carbon fibre blades already and mine isn't even finished being built. I'm not taking the risk.

From what I can see, those are the Thuder Tiger carbons. They are very nice blades. I run 'em on mine.

Yes, they are TT carbons, very nice blades. I love the black inner and white gel-coat on the outer.

Shin, that's a Yellow plastic TT raptor canopy with fancy stickers. :D

He didn't have idle-up curves set so I couldn't test the roll rates. It goes where I want it to, very stable in FFF.

You were just scared to see how well a Raptor flies, admit it Cuzz!

Oh my mistake, they looked wooden to me! :o

That canopy isn't yellow from factory is it? Mine's white :(

He had a white canopy, he ordered that after he bought the original.

Ah-ha! That's what i was getting at. I wasn't quite sure if you were indicating that you can buy aftermarket canopy's from TT!

there is an aftermarket fiberglass canopy available from thunder Tiger for the Raptor 30/50 and 60/90.
IMHO there is nothing wrong with running wood blads as long as you epoxy the plastic root onto the blade, and you never want to fly a pair of damaged blades, but wood blades are fine for even basic aerobatics, on a 30-50 size bird. Wood blades are more susceptible to seperating in an over speed condition, but even with carbon blades, overspeeding is very dangerous, because something else will eventually fail anyway. wood blades are much more practical ($$$$)for begginners who still tip over a machine on occasion.

Back in the day (which was only around 10 or so years ago) - we were all flying with wood blades. Aaron is correct - you must NEVER overspeed wood blades. With today's pre-manufactured woodies - you're at the mercy of the manufactures quality control. A poor glue joint holding in the lead tip weights can result in something you don't want to get in the way of! On the other side of the coin - they do perform basic aerobatics (loops, rolls, stall turns) quite well.

The yellow canopy is a plastic, not fiberglass. I'll ask him where he bought it.

I think I saw one from heliproz for about $25.

I don't know if this one is the same or not.

It looks the same minus the sticker scheme.
