Okay guys,
just got my caliber five. I need a step by step to building this. I have never had a Nirto heli before. I may be asking some stupid questions just becasue i am new. Does anybody like heli cuss have a movie of you setting some up or starting it? I need to see some one do it first.

Just  How do you know how many times your engine has turned before it starts.
Most of the time mine fires instantly , other times, it takes a few seconds until the fuel gets into the engine then it starts. Also, if you've started your heli with five cranks of the crankshaft{I'd be happy with that}why do you need a video?
My camera is a still photo and 15 second clip video cam, so you're not gonna get an instructional video on starting in 15 seconds.Anyway, I'll do it this morning and post it this afternoon.
If it helps.... Great.

I was thinking of getting the caliber. Still haven't decided on the 30 or 50 yet.
What engine did you go with on your caliber 5 superflyer? Sounds like you got one of those pull starts!
Can you post some pics?
superflyer
09-30-2006, 04:00 PM

superflyer, did you get the arf kit? How much comes pre-assembled? I'd rather have one that I can build completely, that to me is half the fun of having one!
heli-cuzz
10-01-2006, 02:20 PM
I think they only sell them as arfs. Not sure though. I rebuild them after a smackdown. LoL
I do enjoy starting from scratch. The Trex comes with no assembled parts besides a couple of arms that have the bearings installed.
Helifino, this is what the 50 kit looks like right out of the box. :) with the ems linkage kit.
Helifino
10-01-2006, 03:16 PM
Wow, I didn't realize that much came pre-assembled! I thought maybe some of the tail section and a few head components. Now I can see how superflyer gotter done so fast. :D
Still, pretty cool all the same ;)
heli-cuzz
10-01-2006, 03:49 PM
It's about 90% pre-assembled.
superflyer
10-01-2006, 06:23 PM
ya i did get the arf kit. It comes pretty good assembled so if you want to build one thats not the way to go.

yep. Heli-Cuzz. I think i might be running my engine lean. It is barely smoking when it flys. Do you think it is better to run it lean or rich?
Superflyer
heli-cuzz
10-02-2006, 01:14 AM
Run it on the rich side, your engine will thank you. Smoke should be easily visible but not to thick. A lean engine will scream and have erratic idling qualities as well it will overheat very quickly. To rich, it will have heavy smoke and a gurgling engine sound, also will bog easily and run a lower headspeed. A good test to see if you're to lean is hover it for 30 seconds to a minute, land it and bring it right down to idle, if your engine races when it should be idling, your to lean.
superflyer
10-02-2006, 01:15 AM
so what your saying is it is safer to run it rich?
heli-cuzz
10-02-2006, 01:18 AM
Yes, but not to rich. When flying with a heavy fuel mix, it will bog down and have little power to get out of trouble.
superflyer
10-02-2006, 01:19 AM
now if it hard on the engion to run it rich. Will it decrease engion life?
SF
heli-cuzz
10-02-2006, 11:11 AM
Yes it will, when breaking /running an engine in, you must get the engine up to operating temp so everything seats properly.
My friend modifies glo-engines for a living. He places an insulation pad on the cooling head when he bench tests an engine. That's so it gets up to its operating temperature in a rich mixture setting. Running it rich washes out the metals residue from a break-in/run-in

Heli cuzz. Those green paddles you have on your caliber do you like them? ARe they responsive? Iam looking into getting them. How much do they cost?
Superflyer
heli-cuzz
10-02-2006, 11:26 AM
I have no complaints with the paddles, they're responsive, light, and very visible. They cost around ten to twelve dollars.
superflyer
10-02-2006, 11:27 AM
cool. They also look awsome

10-03-2006, 12:59 AM
any nitro engine will spray oil. Yes, thats normal.
superflyer
10-03-2006, 01:00 AM
ya becasue it getts really oily after just one tank of fuel.
