My god its a small world, I'm not a member of any club I've been just winging it (excuse pun) on my own for about 12 months now, I work at Mulgrave and live in Kurrajong. I use this forum and others to learn the trade, not mention buy the magizine as soon as it hits our shore, its been a great experience for me, everyone is always very helpfull, but I have a long way to go :) PS you would have seen the F1-11s fly over at 1130 Great hey!!!! :D

I always get up early work starts @ 7 a.m., today was a little earlier than usual. The meeting was only 7 out of 20 members and it went well. We discussed about getting an indoor flying site for small foamies and helis, we have a place that costs 25.00 an hour for a gymnasium. :D Time to get the Trex flying again. We are also in the process of bulding a website too. :cool:

Excuse us people this is a little off the weather thread. 7 out of 20 is that quorum? LOL, :) sounds like a very pro-active club which is great. The Web site will be interesting, I assume from all that interest the club is growing and getting more members? I’m at work now start @ 0730, but its Friday again, and rain is predicted for the weekend so that’ll will give no excuse not to sort out my T-Rex and I should launch her maybe Sunday arvo, I wont be able to get any video at the moment, because my wife is actually in your neck of the woods at the moment, she is in Los Vegas on a company convention, I will take some stills of the build and post next week :cool: . 3 out of the 7 were counsel members including myself. The club is less than a year old, its an ama sanctioned flying site. Its the first club of its kind in ama history, promoting ham radio on the 50 mhz frequency and encouraging members to get ham license.

Oh Ok I see what is going on, that tower in the back ground I've seen it before in one of your heli- shots, looks like a good field plenty of room nice and safe :) Do you still have to do morse code for a ham ticket? :(

Its the best field in the valley where I live. From a helis-eye, it would look like a huge pool table in the middle of the mountains. It's perfectly flat, good for planes taking off and landing. We have over a mile to the front of us, the left and right too. Way more than I need to fly. I usually keep it within the immediate field limits. I like my heli up close and personal, but not to close. :D
I don't have a ham license yet. I do believe there is a certain certification if testing for morse code.

Lately, like the past six months, the weather sux$ around here. Constantly cloudy, the winter was mild until a couple weeks ago. Now its cold and cloudy, with patches of snow around. I've been flying almost every day this year so far. My Trex has over an hour flite time in the past two weeks, my Caliber5 has over an hour of recoded flite time on a dvd-r handicam this year. Last weekend, I hovered a Trex600 with a tail glitch and it was snowing out. :D

Yeah, reading the reports of the snow in New York have made me even more glad I live in Tucson.

We had something like 2 or 3 inches of snow overnight here a couple of weeks ago, and you'd have thought a blizzard had hit, the way the city was reacting. Roads closed, school buses not running, people calling in that they weren't making it to work, etc.

For pete's sake; I made it to work, and I neither have 4WD, tire chains, snow tires, or anything else typically associated with driving on snowy roads. What I do have is sufficient sense to know what to do and what not to do when the roads are icy (memo to the clueless: you will NOT melt your way through ice by spinning your tires faster).

If we had 20 inches here, the city would be thoroughly shut down. 120 inches? A disaster area. I'm not sure a nuke would do more damage to Tucson than 120 inches of snow would.

Anyways it took me about twice as long to make it home from work.

Left work at 2:00am and didn't get home until after 3:00am.

Almost got stuck. (Ford Taurus front wheel drive)

I was hoping to take my hirobo up for a flight today, but I stripped the hex starter set screw trying to get it loose.

Its was barely on the clutch shaft, but since its notched it wont come off.

I tried drilling and tapping for a 10/32 set screw, but I think Hirobo made that thing out of extra hard steel and then hardened it again! :eek:

BTW that fence in the photo is actually a drift fence to keep the snow from drifting into the road. They put it up once winter begins and this week was the first we got any amountable snow.

This field is right up the hill from my house.

Unfortunately I don't own any of the fields around my house, but my friend owns a decent size field right above my house too.

I could tell you who the owner is, but we would have to ask permission first.

There is a much better field right next to that one with a frozen and snow covered pond! I know the owner of this field and I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Same up here in the middle of the state mkoutnik, only we're getting a little less than your totals. We had about 8" yesterday and more last night. I haven't been outside to see how much or fire up the ATV to get it cleared. Lots of drifting, though. I've got a drift in my back yard close to 2 feet deep! Highs in the 20's. I've already got 2 calls to plow them out!

What's sad is that Monday-Thursday of last week, we were in the high 30's-40's and hit 50 one day!!!! The snow was almost gone!

just got back from flying. weather was closing in and didnt fancy being the only thing tall on the flying feild while there was lightning closing in. Got home to find golf ball sized hall stones on the drive and lawn. lucky i was out otherwise my car may have had some dents.
