Heli-Max, a company with plenty of small electric experience is venturing into the nitro arena with the new Kinetic 50 ARF Kit. Here's a copy of the official press release we just received:

Most any heli modeler will tell you: nothing beats the realism of a nitro-powered machine. And nothing beats the value and performance of Heli-Max’s Kinetic 50! Even a beginner can get into heli flying with this impressive model — and experienced pilots will really appreciate its 3-D aerobatic capabilities, right out of the box. When you compare features, parts availability and aftermarket support, you’ll see that the Kinetic 50 has it all over the competition!

• Large dimensions make the Kinetic 50 easy to track and very stable when hovering.
• Can be flown outside in weather that would ground smaller helis.
• Nitro power delivers long flight times, quick re-fueling and consistent power from beginning to end.
• The Kinetic 50 boasts a reliable hex start system and wide-stance, heavy-duty landing gear.
• Smooth flight characteristics are courtesy of a precision no-play swashplate with metal ball joints. Other performance features include a self-aligning clutch and 6 mm feathering spindle.
• The tail-mounted rudder servo delivers superb tail control, with the gyro mounted directly behind the main shaft for easy access.
• The torque tube-driven tail is powerful, efficient — and usually an expensive aftermarket accessory. But it’s standard equipment on the Kinetic 50!

Specifications:
• Rotor Diameter: 52.75 in (1340 mm) • Weight: 7.5 lb (3.4 kg) • Length: 47 in (1194 mm) • Width w/Landing Skids: 10 in (255 mm) • Height: 15.25 in (387 mm) • Gear Ratio: 9.1:1/Main; 5:1/Tail • Requires: 6-channel heli radio w/5 servos, 2-stroke .46-.51 cu in (7.5-8.0 cc) heli engine, .50-size muffler, gyro

Yes it is ccpm, mechanical or electrical mixing? I'm not sure of, it doesn't tell you in the brief descrip.

Hrrm I am sensing a rebadge (http://www.centuryheli.com/products/helikits/cn106xRAVENccpm/index.htm?currentid=46) :D

But it should be a bit cheaper, I wonder if they will carry all the features over? Or exactly what features it will have from the line. At least we know they already have hop ups out for it :)

Though looking through the window at least the heli pictured above is mechanical mixing, but they have the eccpm kit already available for the Hawk and such if you need it :)

And actually, looking at the picture a bit closer, it actually looks to be more a 50 size Hawk then a rebadged Raven.

Hrrm just looked it up at our dealer, that street price looks fishy, i don't see it selling for that if they don't lower wholesale...

Many of the heli manufacturers outsource common designs to many brands. This machine, as per the picture appears to be a combination of Century Hawk Pro parts and Falcon 50 parts to create a larger 50-size version of the Hawk Pro but without some of the metal upgrades found on the Century Falcon SE V2 50 machine (Predator swash plate, CF tail boom, etc.).

As a for instance, The Audacity Tiger 50, several JR helis and some of the Robbe machines are made by Hyundai Heavy Industries out of Korea. Of course, each machine has some tweaks to it's design by each brand, but they all come from the same plant.

It's also like Radio Shack's products. Many of their home audio products were or still are made by the same manufacturer of Pioneer equipment.

Either way, this all benefits the consumer to give more options, more competition and lower prices. This machine will be available from Tower Hobbies so you can get excellent deals on it with Tower's regular discount programs.
