hey all
I took my 30 raptor and converted it to a 50, and I'm having some issues. The biggest one is that at 1/4 throttle the heli wants to take off. I figured I would just adjust the curve however the problem then is that I have no tail authority because of low head speed. So i'm stuck with either liftoff at 1/4 throttle or no tail control. The engine is an O.S. 50 SX-h, OS 8 glow plug. 30% nitro. needle 2 1/2 turns out.
throttle curve lifts off at 1/4 throttle
18%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 100%
lifts off a hair below 1/2 throttle but low head speed and no tail control.
18% 30%, 45%, 60% 100%
thanks

This is some info I got off a web sight, hope it helps you out
Throttle Curve settings:
These are settings I have used on my machines and work for my specific configurations. You should only use these as a comparison. The best thing is to know how to setup the throttle curve for your specific machine. For normal flight mode, you hover the helicopter and adjust the center throttle point (this is for NON-3/4 stick hover setups) until you get the head speed you want to run. Then set the 1/4 and 3/4 points to be 10% above and below the center point value. For 3D mode you do the same as above for hover but instead adjust the 3/4 point for the hover speed. Then when you get that value, duplicate it on the 1/4 point. For the center point, adjust it so when you do a 0 degree descent that the head speed stays the same.
Normal 3D
Raptor 30 21,32,40,48,100 100,58,48,58,100
Raptor 50 (OS 50 SX-H) 20,26,41,46,70 100,61,54,61,100
Raptor 50 (TT50) 19,30,40,50,100 100,52,42,58,100
Raptor 60 35,44,52,62,82 100,65,56,65,100
Pitch Curves:
This applies to all helicopters, not just a 30 or 60
These are some basic settings,
9 degrees will give a good climb out, but if you just want to climb out like a rocket you can increase the pitch, however this will not be so good for 3D flying because you can reach stall angles. Remember that the total pitch is your collective input plus the cyclic input.
Starting pitch Normal mode 0,5,9
Setup for 3D Normal mode -4,3,9
Good luck

The pitch and throttle curves work in conjuction with each other. You'll need to adjust both at your hover point to get desired head speed. Start at around 4 degrees of pitch about 50% throttle and work from there. In general, if the head speed is too slow, decrease pitch and increase throttle. If the head speed is too fast, increase pitch and decrease throttle. If it lifts off before your desired hover stick position - decrease pitch only. If it lifts off after your desired hover stick postion - increase pitch only. Trial and error here!

Hey Scott what mods did you have to do to get the OS 50 into your heli? I was wanting more power out of my Raptor 30 V2 and was looking at the same engine to do it. I was curious if the clutch and stuff would switch over as well as what needed to happen to bolt in the new engine? I tried to ask the guys at heliproz but nobody will write me back. Just curious if I need a conversion kit or something?

pretty much I bought (piece by piece) the parts that are in a 30 to 50 conversion kit and and an O.S. 50 engine mount from TT got it all from heliproz.

All you need is a TT 50 size engine mount the clutch and clutch bell are the same but if you want more power in your 30 size you would want to think about putting the os 37 or the toki 40 in it, if you put a 50 in your 30 you need to change the gearing, blade length and tail boom this comes in the 30 to 50 conversion kit you can get from heliproz, here is the link http://www4.mailordercentral.com/heliproz/prodinfo.asp?number=132880
Hope that helps
