So where's the place to start checking out scale model info, products, availability and price?

I'm a scale lover and after i've gained confidence with the Raptor 50 i want to move to scale. Something along the lines of an AH1Z or a Blackhawk or Huey, something army, something tough looking

Would really appreciate some links as i just can't seem to find much information on anything but 3D "sports" helis.

Regards,
Adam.

p.s. i'd also be interested in the possibility of putting a fuselage on my Raptor 50 later on, so that's an option!

If you're going to stay with Army, you can't build an AH1Z. They're the Marines...just had to mess with ya! :p

Seriously, though. Century makes some nice scale heli's. Check them out at www.centuryheli.com or www.heli-world.com

yep.. The AH-1Z is tough...

But got to fly it with high heels and a skirt...the way those NAVY boys like it... :D

Haha! Shaddap! :p

Thanks for those links! I actually stumbled across Century Heli's today whilst i was surfing, bored out of my mind! They have some pretty wild looking gear, great website too.

Anyone else? :o

They are probably too heavy... I tried to do 3D in my simulator with the scale helis.....it wasn't a pretty sight.. :D

The scale heli's on the sim are setup to fly scale. I've heard of guys doing loops and rolls with them. Yeah, they're probably too heavy for anything past that.

Vario helicopters deal mostly in scale helicopters. The helis are a little expensive, I do not know if this is because of the German engineering or what. :D

If you can find their catalog it is well worth buying. I bought one at Ircha and it is filled with almost any scale heli you can think of.

Hirobo also carries alot of scale stuff.

You can fly 3D with a scale heli but I would ask why you would want to?

Scale and 3D are 2 different disciplines.

Scale = precision flying, trying to make your flights as real as possible

3D = artistic ability, pushing the limits every time you fly

When (and if) competing in Scale you are judged on realism of both heli and flight.

Vario is nice but there is also Graupner. They have some very nice stuff and not as expensive. Also, most everthing is cut out so you don't have to slave at that. I have the Bell 230 and the BO-105, which both will be electric. Sandy from V-East also sells SSM (can't remember what it stands for) and I have their Bell 205/UH-1H huey. Very nice.

Good luck.
