Hello all,
Well, whilst i'm waiting for my new Raptor Titan to get here (very eager and excited!! :D ) i thought i'd show off my little friend. She's a Twister Bell Medevac twin rotor, twin motor 800mah beginners beast!
I had my first skids, my first hops and my first hover in this bird. Being that it's my first bird, that kinda would make sense! :p
This is a snipped up video of my 3rd flight which was about 6 weeks ago. First "flight" was just skidding. Second flight was skidding with a few hops then came the third flight with my first sustained hover! I was rather happy as you can notice in the video.
Will post up a thread this week when the Titan gets here.
Cheers,
Adam.

hey, that seems to be the same mechanics as the blade cx, nice :)
Not same as same style but same as the mechanics straight out of the bcx, same wavy lines on the blades, same motor placement, same blade attachment, what's the info on this heli?

She's a great little bird that's for sure! :)
Ralph, that link you provided is to a Twister Bell, but is the standard Bell model. The Medevac is slightly different and available in both Army and Navy schemes. The Medevac still uses twin electric motors but they are both mounted in front of the rotor, whereas the standard Bell has one at the back and one on the side (as far as i can tell from photos). A few other subtle differences like a battery tray instead of rubber band support. Just a few improvements over the standard model.
Here's the modelflight link to the Medevac :) - http://www.modelflight.com.au/rc_model_helicopters/twister_medevac_heli.htm
Here's my latest shenanigans. OUTDOORS! :D This was probably about my 10-12th flight. I've lost count now. I took her outside for the second time, but this time it was a success. First time it was too windy, but today it was nice and quiet and it went a lot better then i expected. So good to fly outside and not be cramped! Plus it's also fun flying over fences and into different paddocks and the like. This take off was off the back of our 4wd! ;) haha enjoy!

LoL Funny how it took off then dropped and disappeared, then back up. Sounds like someone was with you, they should have moved the cam with the heli. :) Sounds like your having fun. Helis are soooooo fascinating. :D

Hello Shinanigans
Yes I realized after I posted the link, that there was a link directly to the Medevac chopper, but i figured people would find it on the site :) Great video keep them coming!! be carefull of to much altitude with that little chopper, it'll be swept up into the sky by any wind change and blown away, it happened to me with my Blade CX, all was calm one minute the next the wind arrived on blow the chopper sky ward and down wind, eventually out of radio range, and I lost it in the bush down the back of the property, I managed to line it up with a deck post and a gum tree as it fell out of the sky, so I could find it, which i did after ten minutes of looking for it, she was a little worse for ware but i fixed it and she fly's agian LOL :D
Cheers Ralph
From what I see the only parts different (other then electronics) is the following part numbers:
6601800
6601805
6601810
6601815
6601820
With those 6 pieces you can make a blade cx into one of the bell medevac helies (part numbers are for green army model)
but from my research last nightthey appear to be just a rebodied bcx on 35mhz with a different two board 4 in one unit. Even the tx and charger appear identical.
Now if I could just find a good site to order the parts O.o

Haha, i had no idea you could modify these little mosquitos! If you do, you should do a little write up on what's involved and post it up here. I've never heard of a Blade before so i'm assuming it's not something that's brought 'down under' much. :)
That's a shame to hear about your MIA heli Ralph! I did notice that mine was getting a little unstable when i went too high and i had to be flat chat forward pitch to get it to even think about flying against the slow breeze. Good fun though! :D

Thanks Ralph! She's a good lookin' bird! ;) I love scale looking heli's. Is $190USD what they usually go for? I paid $200AUD for the Twister which equates to around $150USD.
I wonder if i could get that Blade body to fit my twister?
Sure, you would only need a couple of items to do that :)

and

Well I ordered the pieces, I finally found an Au merchant with them as I would be screwed by the exchange rate via the UK, as it was it will cost about $40 shipped for these pieces
We will see in 7 to 14 days....

So you are converting your Blade into a Medevac are you?
Well, i made another video today. Some of you will laugh, some of you will cry, but she's ok!! :D
A few indoor mishaps on this video. :)

At the end of the day, i've got to say that i am absolutely astonished at how tough this little plastic chopper is. It has been throttled back and dropped from 3 foot, it has clipped a metal garage door, it has run into my kitchen bench and into my couch and it is still as strong as ever. Could not recommend any other chopper to begin with and to learn on. Tough as nails and stable as they come.
<3 my chopper :)

Hello Shinanigans
Great stuff!! Looks a bit like a demolition derby :)
Cheers Ralph
I would have to completly agree on the bcx side :)

I don't understand what you mean CLM?
blax, haha yeah it does look a bit that way. I felt sorry for my heli when i ran it into the wall, but i feel proud that she still flies strong and didn't effect her at all! :D
How funny is the sound it makes when it grabs onto the couch! I still crackup every time.
You were praising the twister version so I agreed for the E-flite side ;)
I've crashed the blade cx on purpose, flew it into stuff or just let it drop out of the sky to show people how durable simplicity can be :)

Oh! Got ya! :) They're tough little "toys" that's for sure! ;)
So are you fitting your Blade with the body parts of the Twister?

it looks like a very good plane. I'm excited to get it.
Well I just got my Medevac fuselage in, I must say it is so much more detailed then the rather cheap molded lexan of the bcx it's insane! It even has foam on the cots for the injured! The little bogey wheels don't turn but the rear dummy rotor does. I am a bit concered about long term durability though as even out of the bag the tail has some white stress marks.

When I get to work tomorrw I will actually install this on a blade cx and post some more pictures.
What a nice scale fuse for the bcx :)
Chris
well I have it installed and have flown it!
Only snafu I hit was the battery doesn't completly fit in the holder :D
I must say it looks loads sharper then the vacu-formed canopy.

I agree, it looks alot better. Had did you resolve the battery issue? How does she fly now?
It flys just like a blade cx should, I don't know of any other helecopter I would even dare take a picture of.... while I am also piloting it :D
The body only adds a little weight, much less then I thought it would.

Cool Photo CLM,
My CX doesnt fly that stablely, theres no way I could get a shot and fly at the same time!! especially being so close to shelves and walls etc, Nice Chopper :) maybe I nead to work on mine, I just keep flying it, no trim no nothing just heaps of TX input :)
this one experiances the trim drift like any other cx, I just had to time it right with the camera where I could grab it easily ;)
as for holding in the battery, I think I'm going to just use a rubber band, nice and simple
