Guys,

Rock and I were soldering a bunch of batteries last night, and all went well except for 1 battery. when i plug it into my chargers, they say there is no battery connected. i check the voltage at the terminal, and i get juice. so i tried another lead, and same thing. so i checked the end of the lead after i plugged it into the battery, and no dice! nothing! they are deans ultra connectors. any ideas???

I had one of those on one of my 2s. It's the connector. I think it was the female one. you could wiggle it and then it would read. I went all EC3 now. Don't need that after the Caliber crash. :D

yup, it's the female (battery) side...

If you look in the connector you'll see the tab is pushed in, that's where the problem is. Never messed with it after that. Must happen when you solder them on. Or if there from the factory soldering, because I don't think I soldered that one. I also started using these when I had deans.

I found you have to be extremely careful how hot you get the Deans connector tabs when you're soldering the wires on. Too much heat transfer and the connector plastic will melt and slide the connecction post.

the connectors "looked" fine when i was playing with it yesterday, and it "feels" ok when i put the lead into it. i'll try a new connector though..

That's what I thought MK. Forgot to mention this too, if those batteries came from HK those connectors are clones. I read somewhere they were giving them away with each order. I wonder if that has something to do with it. ;)

nope, didn't get them from hobby king, got them from my hobby shop... i know which clones you are talking about though. dan melted the snot out of one in his jet!

Where do you get those EZ Soldering Couplers? Is that a Dean's thing?

That will resolve my complaint with Dean's plugs (although I use them) and that is you can't establish a good mechanical connection prior to soldering. And that's like step one, soldering 101.

I got them from HeliProz...........:D I think it's a deans thing. They work!

Thanks - I'll order some. They aren't a Dean's product though (I called them to find out as they are somewhat local).

well, put a new connector on, and voila... it works! still weird though, and there was nothing visually wrong with the connector, and you could read voltage across it just fine. maybe the tab was busted or something, and when you put in a connector, it would cause a break-down. oh well!

thanks for the input guys :D

I'll be interested in your findings Ots

Great idea OD Thanks, never seen them before...
Yes to much heat will bugger a Deans, done it once or twice.... :o

Yep I know...........:) I looked at my connector I'm like WTF

One of those things............shopping for a part and it pops up, oooh that would work.:D
