So sunday I hear a strange noise on my 60 raptor. I drop the motor and see a broken shoe on the clutch. No biggie. I put in a new maverikk hd clutch and get 1 good flight and go home. Today I fly 1 flight and get rotor movement at idle speed at start up. Drop the motor and I have a crack at one side of the clutch. That ever happen to anyone else? All the bearings and alignment seem good. Maybe I just got the one bad clutch they made that day? Let me know what you think.

Seems to me there's to much clearance between the shoes and the liner, assemble it on the bench, check with a feeler gauge, if the clearance is excessive try packing the liner out from the bell, also because most people use 30 minute epoxy, and if a hot start occurs the fiction heat melts the glue, and the liner spins in the bell, if that's happened the bell may be stuffed because its worn oversize in diameter hence increasing the clearance..

Cruise around some T-Rex 700 threads, on RR, Helifreak etc.Lots of clutch info there usually.

I agree with blax. Too much clearance. I bought a Maverikk clutch for my Raptor 50, trying to save a few $$. Put it in without checking and first thing I noticed was I had to be way up on throttle before it engaged. Took it apart and compared it with an old raptor one and there was quite a gap. The tips of shoes at the opening were not lined up with the other part of the clutch, they were pushed in a couple of mm. So I ordered the actual TT clutch and all is now well with the raptor.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm thinking along the same lines. I'm ordering a new TT clutch. I can see more gap than I wanted with the Maverikk clutch. I should of checked it better when I put it in. Live and learn, crash and burn. Thanks again.
