View Full Version : I broke my bong...

Okay, it was really a Macs "Heliball" muffler - but everyone that's seen it says "Hey, that looks just like some I used to have in my apartment when I was younger".

The exhaust "stinger" pipe broke off - the weld (I assume it is welded) failed where it is joined to the ball due to vibration.

I do have a 2nd bong... Heliball for my OS Max. .61 FSR-H, but I was never too impressed by the performance of this style of silencer (muffler ??). It certainly doesn't produce any gain in power and it doesn't seem too quite.

I am looking for a more modern exhaust for my old motor.

Does anyone have more compact header / pipe that add performance and fits this old motor?

The mount is uses 4mm bolts (2) on a 34mm centers.
The opening is a square cut rectangle measuring 24mm x 9.5mm.

Does anyone know of good replacement?

The Hatori SB70 looks great.
According to the Ron's HeliProz South (http://http://www.ronlund.com/) tech support, it has slotted mounting lugs so it will match the engine mounting holes (34mm) and the inside dimensions of its exhaust header are just .5mm smaller all around than .61's exhaust port. It is a 2-piece design, with the header separate from the pipe - which allows it to rotate to fit my application.

But, unfortunately, it is currently way out of my price range ($135 - $145 USD).

If there are other recommendations, I'd love to hear about those too.

Maybe one of the folks reading this thread has a pipe they want to sell?
I'm sure there must be a bunch of folks that have boxes of old OS Max. .61 FSR-H accessories sitting around. I'd be interested in talking to anyone with a good pipe they want to get rid of.
