Back again with the Annual event at Central Carolina Radio Control Modelers (CCRCM) near Greensboro NC. Due to other club events I had to move this up a month, so the third Annual will be held on 9 May 2009.
CCRCM has a runway and a separate helicopter area. We will have exclusive use of both areas for this event.
I am planning to have contests. Some contests allow even beginner pilots to compete. The contests we had last year were, precision landing, guess the time, drag race and the ever popular autorotation.
The Guess the time was a fun event, this was where the pilot takes off and lands as close to 1 minute with out going over. The pilot can do what ever they want during that minute but all decided to just hover. ANY SKILL LEVEL CAN DO THIS EVENT. The pilot must guess the elapsed time and other pilots were more than willing to offer assistance. NOTE: timers used by pilot are not allowed.
The drag race was vary close to the bitter end. I hope to have more contestants this year and a radar gun.
Precision Landing had almost every pilot attempt and can be performed no mater skill level
Autorotation is always a fun contest.
Food and drink will be available, contests for all experience levels, door prizes and a raffle.
All sizes welcome
Sorry, no overnight camping on the grounds. Campgrounds are with in a 10-15 minute drive.
Club web site is www.ccrcm.com directions to the field can be found there. Please note: There is a new reservoir near the field that does not show on most maps. Last year several people coming from the east came to dead end roads. The best way to the field is from I-85 exit 111.
