Are there any advantages to using a torque tube driven tail on my TREX 600 E?
Ted
I did the torque tube up-grade on my T-rex 500 and 600 and I love it. The torque tube has less drag than the belt and I like never having to change or adjust a belt. If you still have a lot of tail strikes while landing stick with the belt because you will break gears.
I converted my 600E to torque tube the third day I had it. I had problems with the belt - don't know why. But it's smooth and solid with the tube. I also converted to helical cut gears on the main drive and that added further smoothness to its flying characteristics as well as seriously reducing the gear noise.
