hey guys, gotta quick q for ya. trying to talk santa into picking me up a scale body for my electric (450 sized), and wondering which brands are any good.

people seem to like the heliartist bodies, and they seem pretty good... what about the fusiono bodies and the others. are they junk or any good? thanks!

I don't know much about JMDModels but they have some nice looking 450 size scale bodies.

Santa should look at the align models and some at helihobby! I have an align augusta 109 and MD500E Great stability. The augusta is much lighter in grams.

I haven't built it yet, but I have an Align MD500E body. Looks real nice, can't wait to build it. The 450 to go in it will be under the tree this Christmas.

i've been thinking of the augusta or airwolf bodies. does the plastic pan that the retracts attach to flex much? if so, is there a way to reinforce it, or just better to remake it out of some lite ply?

So, I figure if there's a shop that has anything to do with rc helis that's close by I'm going to want to know who they are. JMD Models was a new name so I had to visit them at their address of 10249 Randwick, Temple City, CA:

So it's a web-based business only. I had hoped to see their stuff in person. I'll call them Monday and see if there's a way to do that.

Their web site is pretty nice - I suspect that they are OK to do business with, I mean, nothing wrong with doing a business out of your home. It was just a bit odd to put their address on the website and then find out it's a house. Normally in this case the "contact us" info excludes a street address unless there is a store front.

Again, I'll call them on Monday and see what their story is.

So they don't have a phone number on their web site so I sent them an E-mail with my name and phone number. I'll let you know if they call.

OK - the clowns at JMDModels haven't answered my E-mail in several days. All things considered - home business, no phone number, no response to E-mail - I wouldn't buy from them.

Don't rub it in... :D It was 5 deg F (-15 deg C) this morning when I started my car.

I agree, I wouldn't trust JMDModels either. Lack of response = poor customer service; no excuses! That's a pretty poor example of how to start/run a business.

wow, good to know! thanks for the legwork!

poor customer service grinds my gears.... when i get a call or an email from a custommer, i respond right away, providing it isn't 2 a.m...... even on the weekends i'll answer a customers questions.

On my align MD500 I used medium thickness super glue on all sides of the wooden inner frame and an accellerant to harden the glue. The extra support rigidity makes for an almost vibration free heli. If you have an old or used align heli case foam insert, use a piece about 6 inches long and place on the urper shaft of the tail boom. This will defeat any vibrations. Use a piece of velcro near each end, equadistant on the foam piece. Use the hook pieces on the tail boom. You need a small amount of velcro patches to secure the foam. The MD is a heavy in the tail. I used 2 2500 evo-flight batteries to power the heli. Although this makes for perfect balanced weight, realize the response time is longer. Use the align 35 amp X model. Giving all servo's 6volts. I have had no problems with my GY240 with the 6 volt BEC. Good luck Oh and deans makes a great adapter to use two batteries. flight time will increase. Hovering uses lots of amperage. I use an Aon 3500 Kv motor, and 13 tooth pinion. That runs well below the heat limits, and allows a high head speed for the added weight.
