I have a mini titan which has always flew great, but I want something bigger/better. So I'm considering between a Trex 500 and a Hirobo Lepton. Do any of you have suggestions or good/bad experiences with either?

I've flown both, if I were to choose between the two, I'd take the Hirobo Lepton.

i have not flown both, and currently only have one flight on my 500 (stoopid work and weather) but i love that thing. it was by far the easiest of the helis i have built. and the flight i did get was super stable.

as with most things, look at parts availability, although the intertubes have made this a mute point, there is something to be said for just going in and getting what you need and flying later that day.

Both the T-rex 500 and Hirobo Lepton are great helicopters, but why just limit yourself to them?

There are many options to look into.

MSHeli Protos
Logo 400
T-rex 500
Hirobo Lepton
HDX500

etc etc.

You can't go wrong with most of the helicopters out there if you do a little research, don't just rely on what someone says. You'll end up happier if you do a little digging and find the features and things YOU want in a helicopter.

The Trex 500 is a great Heli, and if you buy it in e-bay from a honkong dealer, not that expensive. I got mine RTF for $700 .
Looking at the Hirobo Lepton, i do not like that the servos for tilt and roll are not direct linked, more linkage more trouble.

Another choice is the Quick of Japan EP8 or EP9.

NICE helis. You can get them from Helicopter Hobbies www.helicopterhobbies.com.

I've got a T-rex 500 and love it. My LHS has all the parts and it flys great. For me, if I crash on Saturday I still want to fly on Sunday. I stock some parts but I don't want my only parts supplier to be the internet. Pick the heli you can buy parts for by car. If because of where you live that is not an option I would buy the T-rex because on the internet there are the cheapest, fastest parts available I've seen. That is IMO anyway.

I need parts pretty much every week. Last week I didn't crash but seized an engine. The week before I burned up a tail servo and the week before that I crashed my 500. I've purchased from Heliproz and pretty much everybody else. Now If I need parts on Saturday I go to Willis Hobby on Long Island because he has a wall for every Align helicopter. You can build a 450, 500, 600 or 700 just by taking parts off those walls. He also has walls for all of the E-flite helis.

If I need parts after flying on Sunday I order them from Tech-mp.com. So far I've never needed a part that he didn't ship the same day. Tech-mp is in CT. so regular mail gets everything to me by Wednesday and his prices are great.

It all depends on where you live but for the New England area I recommend Tech-mp.
