arrrggghhhh trex 500 issues

so i went out and got it. went togther super easy, till the electronics.

with all the leads plugged into the ar7000. i am using to charged 3s lipos in series to power it. but nothing is getting anywhere. the motor dosent start, none of the servos move...although the gyro does come on. the esc also intializes.

i have gone thru and and switched all the leads in case i had them backwards and still nothing. the light on the ar7000 also dosent turn on.

there was a moment where the engine did run (but nothing else, not even the gyro) and it responded to the control, so it is linked to the radio.

any ideas. this is pissing me off, can recievers be bad?

Kinda sounds like it might be the ESC or possibly the batteries.

Are you sure of the 2 pack setup? are they maybe hooked in parallel
by mistake? Are both packs fully charged? (no bad cell)

Just guessing............hope you get it figured out.....the Rex500 is an awesome
heli.....I've been kinda drooling over it.....maybe I'll get a nice bonus check
this fall and I can get one...........Hope springs eternal, and all that.......

schwa just be careful with that one there was a kid over here in Sydney that got one of those heli-s and had similar trouble, the bloody thing spooled up by accident when he was trying to figure what was wrong, chopped him up pretty bad............. :(

its not the batteries, i just double checked with a brand new pair that just got charged, same thing, only the gyro works...no servos. this heli runs the 2 3s in serial and i have a harness i got from tower hobbies or something just for that. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNKY9&P=ML

i'll try the video, but not sure if it will fix my problem. shouldnt the ar700 have a light on (an orange one) when it is "on"? i dont even get that. so i have no control over anything.

i am aware of that blax, which is why the blades are off. a guy at my field got popped just above the eye doing the same thing, he was lucky....

still at a lose, tried diffrent batteries with no luck.

The AR7000 receiver will only have an orange light on if it is sync'd up with the transmitter. Did you bind it correctly? Do that first with an RX battery pack so the ESC is out of the picture. Make sure the servos and gyro work correctly.

Then go through that video and setup your ESC. Adjust it for 5V output. Now hook it up (without the motor). If the servos still don't move, then you have a bad ESC.

ahhh, thats a good idea, i didnt think to try and hook up a the reciever pack. i'll give that a try. at least it will narrow down if there is a problem.

that did it, i thought it was binded, but i guess not (weird that the engine responded to input though???)

i think the servos are reversed, so i'll have to check that.

now its time to figure out that esc.

watch out if the throttle's reversed.. made that mistake with my mx once and only once! almost took my face off, and cost me a canopy when she spun around on the table... had to change my pants and have a smoke after that one...

i copied the intial settings in the radio from the mini t to the 500. i know for a fact the tail, alerion and elevator servos are swapped. pitch seemed right.

havent had time to do much the last day. still have to program the esc and reverse the servos and check the pitch curves.

this was the easest of my helis to build. the swash was level right off the bat (eye level anyways).


but just got told that we are planning on working the next 3 weeks straight to finish this commercial (nascar). so no flying for the month of july.... :mad:
