Ralph, the dog is still alive, amazingly. This guy is apparently also a real Helicopter pilot and the dog never went near the machines.

Here is a picture of one lucky dog.
He's a cute little guy it looks like he's smilling. :)
It's great to hear that he's recovering . :D
Hope he is OK. We are sharing a field with a Polo club and had some close calls. The idea is that we have a field to use but the idiot horse handlers insist on walking across our runway when the go to the paddock. We fly planes and Helis there  When we talk to the horse club they dont seem to care about the welfare of their horses.

You know how that's going to turn out right? One of the horses or walkers is going to get hit by an aircraft and you're going to lose that field at a minimum. Let's not even talk about what happens when the attorneys get their mits on the case.
I'd suggest getting a handle on that BEFORE something happens.
We are a registered field (with insurance cover) that have been operating there for 5+ years. The problem is that the horse owners do not seem to have the animals well being as a priority.

If you are counting on being covered by AMA insurance, read the coverage rules under the National Model Aircraft Safety Code. You are not covered if you intentionally fly over unprotected people.
It sounds like you need to talk to the horse people and explain the safety issues, then get some orange warning tape (available at Home Depot) and identify your space.
As pointed out above, if a rider or horse gets hit, bad things will happen. Horse people, as a rule, have a whole lot more money for lawsuits than model people. And the news media will not choose your side.
Flying over the people for spite and then calling them names makes someone look like an ass.

Don't worry TP, I don't think the media or the AMA will care what you do in South Africa
But, you are right about flying over people. Regardless of why it happens, it is the modelers responsibility to fly safe and keep the model away from any people, property or animals.
