Is this in replace of the belt drive?

If so, which one is more efficient?

The torque tube is not only more efficient, but should help with the static problems that many have been reporting.

For what reason is it better than the stock tail drive system?

For what reason is it better than the stock tail drive system?

Never said it was better - I said it was more efficient. A torque tube tail drive exhibits less of a load on the power system. The downside is that it is more prone to breakage (gears) than a belt drive system if you hit the tail blades on the ground.

For the TRex-500, the belt rides very close to the tail boom and tends to create much more static buildup than other helis with a belt drive system. For this reason, many are experiencing 'glitch' problems with the 500. The torque tube in this case will eliminate that as a source.

My T-Rex 500 went into the ground inverted at full speed because of glitching on its first flight at the field. It flew well in my yard when I test hovered on a rainy day. But it was zero humidity and 20 degrees when I went to the park and the glitching showed up 30 feet or more in the air. The repair bill was $200.00 plus a different receiver and a new replacement metal tail assembly. So all together about $350.00. You’re going to want the metal tail assembly if you keep the belt so if I were you or if I could do it again I’d order the torque tube now.
