Where would I go to get info on how to run a FAI contest? I am thinking about trying to run like an intro class 1 event/day of learning. Maybe more like a half day seminar.. any help would be COOL. I guess my main concern is judging. I have read the AMA guidlines but that doesnt teach you how to judge and how to score.. the logistics of layout and and running a flight line are No problem.. I dont know what to look for.. I guess its time to get of the porch and just do it... Like they say "build it and they will come"

Good on you G, you are promoting the sport/hobby in a very positive way, I'm sure there are plenty of people that will help you get it up and running, you will soon learn what is required.
Good luck with your idea :)

Here is a link to a PDF that was prepared as a judging guide for FAI.

The field layout is pretty straight forward. Just copy the diagram.
Generally, we use contestant judging for local contests. We rotate through the chairs the same way we rotate flying. You have to compensate for who's calling for who, and for any freq conflicts.
Once kicked off, and the flight order drawn, the contest pretty much runs itself. As a CD, you have to go around and make sure people are ready at the start box when they are up, and that they get in the judge's chair when it comes their turn.

Thanks, Emails have been sent out to some local talent and product reps.. I need to find a facility and set a date.. First time out I am going for a seminar with maybe two rounds of flying so guys can get the feel.. If it goes well I will do a full blown contest..
