I'm not seeing a good thread on this in the beginner forums. Basically, I'm wondering for different heli sizes, what rotor and tail blade sizes you can mount and what effects it will have.

I'm seeing all kinds of crazy blade sizes, and really am not sure where to even start.

This could take a long time to answer ...

But I'll assume because you're a beginner you're asking for a .30 or .50 size machine.

A .30 size heli typically runs 550mm main blades and a .50 size heli typically runs 600mm main blades. The tail blades for a .30 and .50 size machine are usually the same, around 95 to 105 mm.

If you install tail blades that are too large, you'll most likely stress the tail drive system (belt) and put extra loading on the entire drive system.

If there's anything specific you're looking for, please update your post.

Regards,
Chuck

That'll about do it. Thanks. Whats going to be affected by running a larger or smaller blade?

Think about it. The larger the blades, the more resistance the'll have to change - hence more stable - less agile. The larger blades will also produce more lift - so you won't have to run the head speed as fast - this will make the helicopter less responsive.
