I was under the understanding that they wouldn't network. If so, that's great. We'll have to plan a night!

Sounds good to me Troy. I feel so stupid trying to fly on it though, I crash just about everything I fly!!

i have G3.5 and i favor the big .90 helis. i can hold a hover for a full 10 minutes with no issues. im still tweaking the video settings so the game will run on my comp though since my laptop is kinda old

Been there, Now I crash every other time I fly. :D
Yeah it makes you appreciate how hard it is to fly these things.
Just take it easy and take your time. ;)

Have you tried downloading the Blade CP Pro from Knifeedge http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1768

When you guys first started, how long did it take you before you could hover? I always end up either going forward or backward. Then I end up over-doing something and blade pieces go flying!! Its fun to crash them when I dont have to pay for them :p

not too long... hour or 2. the most important part is adjusting the sticks so the heli is neutral in the air. i keep my throttle slider centered, and adjust the other 3 till the heli can hover with only minor inputs without it drifting off in any direction. best way to adjust it is to bring it up into a hover without touching the right stick and see which way it goes, then adjust accordingly.
btw, i got the cp pro in the sim to hover perfectly with the gyro knob turned to the right a tab. it locked the tail in place so nice... sold me on buying one for my real model :D

Everybody learns a there own pace.
Start with nose out hovers as soon an you see the heli start to move in one direction move the stick (cyclic right stick) in the oppoosite direction but use small movements with the cyclic. ;)
Also use the heli with the training gear and keep it low to get the feel.

helis dont respond as quickly either. u gotta be a couple steps ahead of them and anticipate their movements. it aslo doesnt take more then a hair of stick movement to correct them. good thing about the sim is you can crash all u want and it doesnt cost nothing.

Fine tuning is a pain in the ass so far, but will be worth it once I can figure it out and get it to hover by it self, without much movement.
I appreciate everyone's help with this

It just takes time to develop the hand eye coordination. I actually put my sim away for several months(didn't have a heli), and got it out when I purchased my raptor.
My abilities were better then when I had quit, my orientation and natural reaction to positions was quicker and more accurate then before I had put the sim away. Guess all the time I had spent on it at first "soaked" in during my time off it.
Short practice sessions, with a purpose in mind consistently over time will show a great improvement of skills. I spend time everyday working on hovering in all orientations, I set goals for myself or pick places to land(tables/vehicles/buildings).

In the sim, or with the real heli?

the Sim, I like to think depth perception is alot harder on the sim then real life, or so I hope.
I am fixing to head to the field now with my heli, going to be the first time its ever been started.

Both!!! :D
Neil, BTW...A friend and I did some experimenting. Networking G3.5 and G4 is a no go. :(

hovering in the sim much more unstable than real flight i found. I notice the small helis a pain to fly on the computer as well, they just to small on that screen  I find real flying eaiser than sim so to me the better i fly on sim it going to be even better in real.
