View Full Version : Flight Simulator in Vista
Has anyone had a problem with the RealFlight G3.5 simulator on the Vista by Dell. I had been using the simulator on my laptop w/windows xp and didn't have a problem but I switched to a new computer and it doesn't work as well. The response is lagging and the screen doesn't seem to be updating fast enough.
I'd appreciate any feedback. thanks.

Hi sju
I have G3.5 on my Sony Vaio with Windows Vista and it works fine.
I'm not a computer expert so I won't be much help but the first thing that I would check is that the computer meets the requirements for the sim if it does meet the requirements then it might be the video card also give these guys a try
http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/ it's the forum for RealFlight I'm sure someone there can help.

I would start by lowering the settings, like terrain detail, particles, and shadows. Vista requires a lot of ram, and is probably interfering with a resource intensive program like the sim. Also, stay at the photofields, they are easier on the system. You should have a framerate of at least 50 fps. Press 1 to bring up the info box. If that doesn't help, you may just need to add ram and a better graphics card. Remember, Vista requires a min of 512mb just to run, so if you plan on running any program that uses resources, you need a min of 1gb, better to have 2. If you don't already, I recommend a 256mb graphics card, especially with Vista.
