I've not actually flown the 450x, but what I found out with my research is it was the older version of the t-rex so I purchased the 450xl cde and have been quie happy with it so far :)

so basically its a lesser trex 450xl?

is so, i think it would be better to spend a few extra bucks and get the xl

thanks

I was looking at that to. I think the only difference is a shorter tail boom/belt and blades. Other than that it is an XL. Suppose to make the tail a little quicker for 3D from what I have read.

so would it ,ake a good first step into eletric, or would the better thing to do is get the 450xl?

If you have a choice, do not get the 450X. The XL has many upgrades and design improvements over the previous 450X version. You'll be better off and have less headaches going with an XL.

This is supposedly the "new" X version CDE. It is marketed toward the low budget minded.
But, I agree with Motions, given a choice and the funds go with the XL. If not, you'll end up upgrading to the XL anyway.

so, does the xl outperform the x, or does it hust have many useful improvement of the basic 450x version?

I would say the XL outperforms the X (my opinion,I've not seen or flown the X). My guess is some of the parts(XL) are probably a little better quality.
I think the X is just a poor mans version of the XL. It's good in a way. It helps people get into this hobby without having to mortgage their house :D

that may be true, but it seem to me that one would be smarter to spend a few extra dollars uyp front for a better hele, and not have to spend more later...

That is the best advice you can get in this hobby. It can't be more true.

The people looking to save a buck always kick theirselves in the butt eventually. It's the hard way to learn but you do learn. I know, because I was one of them.

do you think that this applies to all parts of rc helis?

for example, would buying a 7ch JR radio be a smart idea if i plan to get into 3d stuff, or would it be better to buy a 9ch JR radio,so i wont ever need to purchase a new radio?

Helis come and go,but radios last forever(almost).
If you skimp on anything don't skimp on your radio. Buy the best you can possibly afford. That doesn't mean go out and buy the biggest and most expensive you can find with alot of bells and whistles and stuff you'll never use. A radio is a matter of personal choice and taste, do your homework and it will pay off.

I couldn't agree more. I'm one of those.

I guess the flip side of that is people putting $1000.00 plus into it and then becoming bored or lose all interest in it. Then all you have is a dust collector sitting around.
All I'm saying is start out small to see if you will like it and then build from there. Use a little common sense. Start with an XL instead of an X or an SE. I think you have to find that middle ground and go from there. For a lot of people this isn't an issue.
I know how frustrating it can be, and there have been plenty of times when I thought about throwing in the towel. I wouldn't like to have wasted all of that time and money for something to sit in the closet. ;)

The 450xDE is the latest version, it comes partly assembled with silver motor and G esc for about $200 street.
(I bought one, and I am a nuby. Spending lots of time on RFG3 while I build)

How do you like the X so far? Can you post pics on your build?

the JR 9303 is worth it's weight in gold. My opinion, it's the best all around radio and very easy to program. I can't see myself wanting another radio anytime soon. I sold my futaba for this one and will never look back.

I just started Hovering my 450X version and I am vary happy with it, its my first electric,
and it was in my price range, the build was easy and all the parts are of a good qualty construction, it was a complete combo from HeliProz. raido motor, ESC ,HH gyro ,and and Lipo 2100ma and charger and servos.
This is not a cheep hobby and I understand the buget thing, there are also plenty of upgrades to by for the 450X. when your ready. stock parts are pretty cheep in cost.
