I am at the end of the building process and am curious where to put my battery, receiver & speed control?

I see where the book suggests two to three places but what works the best.

Thanks to all of you who responds.

my preferred setup is to have the receiver mounted to the rear of the lower tray, with the receiver antennea coming out the back and around the the antennea tube. the speed control goes in front of the motor on the lower tray. the other option is to reverese those and have the receiver in the front, but I prefer to have it in the back to get the antennea away from the wiring, motor and speed control

The basic setup is a decent plan but in the end you want to be sure the reciever and esc are as far away from each other as they can be, there is nothing that will interfere with moving components including the rotor as well as servo horns and linkages and most importantly it balances to the best of your ability. you may need to make adjustments for reception and such, just try routing power wires on one side of the heli and antenna on the opposite.

Another reccomendation is to not place the gyro on top of the boom, but as this it the manufacturers commonly designed spot sometimes you have to be creative to mount it elsewhere, just remember to keep it 90 degrees with the main shaft.

Thank you both.

A hobby store near my house suggested last night that the ESC goes on the rear tray and the receiver on the top front tray and battery below the receiver. Is this OK?

In alot of pictures I see the battery on the top front tray.

Are there any balance issues with either direction I may choose?

While I personally don't have a SE, I felt the CDE was better for my inexperiance level, the way I positioned everything was http://home.earthlink.net/~parrot23/images/t-rex/REX2.JPG I however spent several days positioning the electronics using rubber bands untill I was satisfied with my balance. Now my setup may not work for you as my 1500mah lipo may be lighter then yours and the SE has a different servo layout. But I found this setup was the best compromise, as you can see in that picture, all power leads run down that side, while the antenna gets the antenna side all to itself, http://home.earthlink.net/~parrot23/images/t-rex/REX4.JPG

But use rubber bands and mock up your radio setup first before you commit to double sided tape, it's eisyer to reposition :)

Chris,

Thank you for the pic. I have installed the same step up and am having a horrible time with radio hits and static.

What do I do?
