Hey Dr. Tim,
Love your stuff on scale. Thanks for all the good articles. I was wondering about the EZ scale article in the Jan '08 issue. It looks like a fun project to try but I'm wondering what the actual size is? Is it a .30 size heli and engine size? I was'nt sure if the English folks are using a different unit of measure. Their web site dose'nt tell a whole lot about it. I also wondered about the price in U.S. dollars and taxes. About the only thing I was'nt wondering about was your grandaughter! She's as cute as they come! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Both the article and the website show them as .18 size motors, they are measured the same there as here.
I'll be very curious to hear how this bird flies, as .18 is a cool size, and so far not many of them about. I did notice the one in the mag has a flybar...less head! Or was that just a "scale" shot, lol
Either way, test it good and long as I'm interested in how the motor stands up to a lot of hours.
As the pound is very strong right now, price in $ will be about twice the price shown plus shipping. I'm actually going to the UK in the spring so I might be tempted.

I am very curious, also. It sounds like a cool set up but as I'm just getting into scale I got a lot of learning to do. I may have to send money with you in the spring!! I like the idea of it being different than some of the stuff you see all the time. Any way thanks for that info and if you go to England say hi to Paul and Ringo for me. I'm a big fan.

I had to google them the first time. www.lhc-rc.com should get you there. If not just spell it all out and google it. Leamington Hobby Center in England. Hope that helps you.

Is this bird coming with everything you need except electrics and fuel or is there more to get? I looked at the web site and I'm not seeing a lot of info on it just a name and price. If it's a good price for all you need I can see it, but so far I have'nt seen much on it including the mag articles. It reads like you built it and painted it in 10 minutes. EZ scale I understand, but I would like some more specs or pictures or something. Don't get me wrong here. I'm not trying to complain or be cheap, although scale is quite expensive, I just would like to see what I'm going to need and if it's worth the money.

The Fuselages with Mechanics come with Engine, Pipe, Fuselage, Landing gear, and Blades. Now we also have just Fuselages without mechanics. As for building time you can have the mechanics mounted, Landing gear on and ready to fly in a day!! These fuselages come unpainted and prepainted. I like to paint so I can add some rivets and stuff. I would say for the average builder this would be a good after work therapy session for about an hour. After a week of therapy you should be ready to fly! :)

Thank you Dr. Tim! That helps a great deal and makes me lean more toward geting one of these. You gave me more info in that return post than a lot of what I've seen and read. I know sometimes space is at a premium in this great magazine but I still like to see as much as possible before just paying out a lot of cash only to get an expensive surprise when it's too late. Please keep up the great job helping the slow ones like myself and thank you again for that good info. It is really appreciated.

Dr. Tim,
Do the kits come with the complete Pegasus .18 heli?
Just wondering because if I did ever get one, I would want to do some practicing on the pegasus itself! ;)
Also can you post a picture of the fuselages? I already saw the longer ranger of course! :D
(in the mag and this picture below)
Are all the landing skids the same for the kits or do they have scale landing gear?
Also does the .18 size use the standard 6mm hex starting adapter?

EDIT: also I think a great idea would be to have someone make decals to apply to the inside or outside of the windows to make it appear scale!

Thank you for your questions, The Scale helicopters that come with mechanics are just for the fuselages. I guess you could get a tailboom and fly it as pod and boom. The Boom comes already installed in the EZ scale line of scale fuses. As time goes on we (Starwood scale models) will be posting more pictures of these models. There is a cockpit kit that we stock for the Long Ranger from Super Scale. Have a look on our website and we are working on more scale items for these little fun helicopters.
