Hello, I am new to the hobby of heli's and when I feel comfortable enough I am going to get a 1/6th scale Cobra and put a turbine engine in it. I was wondering if it takes regular keroscene or a special type? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :D

A jet pilot at my club burns kerosene in his turbine jet. It flies close to 175 m.p.h. I don't know if its a special mix.

Jet Fuel is just K-1 with additives speicel for flames in a crash ....
models can use gas station K-1 (kerosene)

I use to have a turbine for a plane a little while back. It cheapest to run on Jet A1 with a oil mix, from what i remember about 5% I use to get the oil free from where i use to work. The most common stuff to use is a mobil brand oil just for jets. I cant remember what grade it is now but it very thin, and stains, bloody container tipped over in the car and put a nice yellow stain everywhere. It has a picture of a concord on the front normally in a 1lt container. Most places that have jet aircraft will have it. The fuel was always interesting to buy, I went to shell at the airport one time to buy 10lts and they pretty much laught at me. So save the laughts and buy from a small airfield. Jet A1 is cheaper than petrol for your car per lt. I did notice a slight difference between jet fuel and kero, the kero seemed to make it run better but seeing the gas stations here only sell it in a 1lt container you pay a huge premium for it. I think it cost me $8nzd per lt, so save the bucks and take a container to your local airfield.
