News from early this morning:

"spare" parts are being shipped to the dealers.
The concept is, is to ensure that the spares are in stock at the time of launch.

As of now, the kits are not yet boxed up and ready to ship.
Still, no actual release date has been announced, but "Soon" is starting to look like a reality.

I hope ;they hurry. guys at the field are getting pissy.. Yeah like they are going to sell there preorder spots?? NOT!!! The best part is NO beta testing. They have killed these things forever so NO BUGS for the end user.. I hope RCHELIMAG gets one of the first ones. I think our boys could really put it through its paces and give us the strait scope on this long awaited magical bird...

There is no such thing as a 'Perfect' heli, unfortunately there will always be someone to point out a flaw in his/her opinion  . So lets just get it out on the market so that someone can a box under their Christmas tree this season :D

I was talking to HeliProz yesterday and asked if putting the parts on their website meant that the heli would be out soon. He laughed and said the guy (making the Aurora) wouldn't even return their phone calls anymore! lol! I don't think we'll be seeing it any time soon!

Another Christmas sales opportunity lost :(

Those waiting on an Aurora are going to buy it when it's available - Christmas or not.

But I think it's those customers that had the hook in their mouth and wiggled away that is going to hurt them.

Are there any stats on the market size for a heli such as the Aurora? Gotta be small!

th0rg0d
12-07-2007, 09:57 PM
I think that the 90 size market is small enough, and this heli appears to be in such high demand, that everyone will buy it no matter when it comes out. Maybe he is not calling anyone back because he is too busy making kits? If I could afford it, I would buy it, just because of the "aurora" around it.

Here's a cut & shut of what the man said, it maybe easier for some of you....

Augusto's post lifted from the Avant support forum:

"Hello everyone I wanted to give you an update on the release of the Aurora.
As many of you know a few weeks ago I replied to a question from a user in this forum and for the first time posted a release time. At the time I posted that reply based on the information we had at hand and calculating from what we had to do it seemed pretty sure to us that we were going to be able to release within the month of January which ends tomorrow but that won't be the case although hopefully no for long.

I felt that posting a date would create a sense of definite urgency that would make everyone in the company push harder than ever to meet the date and that's what happened. Unfortunately we were not able to finish in time but it took us very close to finishing.

We are at a point that based on what we experienced trying to finish and release within our January time frame we feel that the coming days will bring to an end the last leg of a long and difficult process of releasing a brand new product that meet high standards of quality and safety.

I realize now after going through all the details that we were not aware needed to be taken care of that if I had not set that date that made us push so hard we would have not become aware of how much work we had left. We ended up having to work much harder than expected to finish them and we are going to keep working just as hard for the next few days until we are done. In a way I'm glad that I posted that reply because it brought a sense of urgency that made everyone involved in the release push incredibly hard while trying to meet the date to take us to where we are now.

I also realize now that posting the release date that we in our hearts believed would be doable I raised the hopes of many customers that have been patiently waiting for the release and I wanted to tell them that from the bottom of my heart I apologize for not meeting that date. I really know how much you want to have your own Aurora and I understand and respect your dedication to your hobby and I know how much having a heli you want makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Like I said before we are going to keep working just as hard in the coming days until we are finally done. Again apologies from the bottom of my heart for the frustration I caused some of you. I'm very sorry and I know how you feel.

Thank you for your attention,

Augusto."

I was just talking to the all powerful Augusto, the number uno uber-genius of heli-fame.

Will be shipping out the vaunted hyper-hyped Aurora no later than the end of March. Took a tour of the factory, and saw where they are at, and it should be finished in 3 weeks. From the look and feel of it, it's as close to perfection in a heli than has ever been experienced by any living creature. The best part is that it immediately responds to the controls so that you become "one with the heli." No one will be disappointed with this engineering marvel. It will definitely be worth more than the wait!

welcome to the forum HeliDoFuss, can you tell us a bit about yourself? You aren't the least bit enthusiastic about the release of the Aurora, are you  It seems odd to me that Augusto would allow an updated release date to get out through more rumors with a user who has never posted on this forum. Maybe you can enlighten us, it just seems a bit odd to me.

I've known Augusto for about 10 years. I wasn't a Heli enthusiast until he told me awhile back what he was up to, so I checked it out. This is my first visit to any RC forum....I wanted to see what the buzz was out here. Augusto is a perfectionist, and takes total pride in what he does, from my past and present experience. In his previous work in another industry (hi tech), he came out with innovations that large companies could only dream about, or more importantly, even hadn't thought about. Another advantage he has is that he has been an enthusiast in RC stuff for many years, so he knows exactly what the RC person wants or what would make the experience ideal. But it's one thing to know that and another to actually be able to make it a reality. He is a true innovator wherever he puts his attention, and the RC heli world will be glad he decided to focus in this area. He is absolutely amazing.

Im not so sure a preorder is the way to go now.
Keep your preorder, of course. But be on the lookout for kits popping up here and there.

You'll see kits trickling in to the smaller online stores, and possibly some local hobby shops.

A guy with the same name just registered on HeliFreak a few days ago.
There are a few problems with this.

He's brand new into this hobby apparently. Someone brand new does not say "I saw this heli advertised and just couldnt pass it up"

I was on a waiting list for about 14 months. They ARE near impossible to get a hold of. He didnt just see a helicopter on the shelf at the store and snatch it up.
He wasn't on no waiting list, there's no doubt.

Also, the picture of kit. Not his picture. Thats a factory picture thats been floating around the internet for about 8 or 9 months now.

There is no way of knowing who he is, or whether or not he actually has a kit in hand.

He has no selling feedback on eBay.

Also, selling it for a profit? Thats not the way the guys in this 'heli community' do things.
People like that, we called in the Navy, "Buddy Fu%$ers"

I totally believe the potential "buyer" of that helicopter from this particular eBay ad, is destined to get screwed.

The kits are $985.

And he's not an idiot for overpaying, he's an idiot for trusting who-knows-who with at least $1200.

Thanks for a couple positive words there. Hopefully this sale will confirm I'm legit, and I have a ton to learn... so there will probably be some questions I have for later discussions. Sorry to create such a mess, I will be delivering the machine to a local flyer who's offered to pay full price....minus shipping. It is now removed from ebay.

As far as the call back thing... I'm pretty sure it's because i've never sold on ebay. It worked though... after a few attempts. They called, gave me a pin... end of story.

I have actually seen the helo in person and got to play withit for a couple minutes.. To bad I suck. Looks real nice and my buddy was really putting it through its paces. The piro rate is killer and it seems as though it can handle some serious abuse. just hammering on the tail and collective ripping the blades. Time will tell. Kind of neat to see the bird its been kind of a standing joke weather any of us mortals would ever actually see one.

Aurora Shipments update

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are happy to announce that we are currently in the process of shipping kits to Asia, Australia, Some parts of Europe, Middle East and some for Latin America.

This latest kits incorporate a new Main and Constant Tail drive gear made with an advanced Delrin material that despite being as strong as the one used previously it's quieter for lower gear noise starting a new trend of quieter drive trains on RC helis.

Shipments start this week and will continue for a couple of weeks or until we are finished with the shipments. After that we will be back shipping to the US. We don't have an estimated date for next US shipment but that batch is already in production. We will update US dealers after this group of shipments are finished.

Regards,

Customer Service
Avant RC.
