I have a question to ask:

Would stock wooden blades fail like on a 30 nitro helicopter? if your doing
inverted hovering? and would a person need to upgrade to carbon blades
before doing inverted flying? or 3D flying.

Thanks All,

stock wooden blades willbe fine for basic aerobatics and inverted flight. you need to make sure you epoxy the plastic peices on at the root where it goes into the grip. and make sure you trim away the covering before you glue it. once they have been balanceed they should be fine for most types of flying. you only "need" carbon blades when you start to get into more aggressive maneuvers that use heavy collective like tic tocs.

In my opinion, they fly like crap. I didn't even bother with woodies on my first heli, but on my gasser, I had to wait for carbons after i built it. I flew it around for a few flights with them and just in the little time I flew them they were a bear to get in track and keep in track. You may have better luck, but I counted the days until my carbons shipped. What a difference in flight.

I fly the stock TT wood blades on my Raptor 30 and they continue to take anything that I can personally throw at em'

They tic-toc, kaos, flip, roll, auto etc. fine. I've honestly never found a big difference between carbon and wooden blades on a 30 size or smaller heli, other than looks.

What head speed can you go up to with wood blades?
and I have a problem with keeping my covering tight. I have to hair dry it about every 5 fligths. Is this common?

Yes the covering on the wood blades loosens up so you have to keep hair drying them. You do not want to run wood blades higher than 1600 rpm on the head speed. I think anything higher than this is dangerous for wood blades.

Thanks for the info.
Is there a life expectancy for wood blades or can you fly em till ya crash em? :o

wood blades should be fine for the long run, you just want to watch out for damage to the plastic covering, and make sure there are no cracks in the wood.

I have only been flying since september of 05 and I have a raptor 30 that i just put carbon fiber blades on and i can honestly say that in my opinion the carbons do seem to fly better and stay in track better of course i know that there are alot of variables but they just seem to perform better and more trouble free.
