Brad, remember the FPS rate dropping on my sim. I found out the reason why. :D
Low battery level in the TX will cause the sim to act-up. Fully charged and no drop in the FPS rate.

Hey Ralph!

LOOKY LOOKY

I gotz a new PUTER! :D

Unfortunately I cant get RF to register or get on mulitplayer

Emailed KE to see what is up.

and YES my wall is ORANGE

blax1
09-24-2007, 08:07 AM
Hi Brad,
Orange is cool, frogs are cool, the new computer looks great, the Dell ranch is extremely price competitive over here I'd say its the same there, what spec's are your machine?
Well just PM me or email and we will get together and fly, BTW- I've loaded expansion pack3, 4 new heli- and some weird motor bike twin rotor thing, that I've flown once. that was enough too slow for me-- ;)

My home Comp- is a HP 720 she has 256m of RAM, I'm about to upgrade that to 1G she should be almost 4 times faster with that on board, a few months ago we upgraded the TV in her to a full HD Digital and that is amazing to watch, so much more resolution than before and the channels are almost endless, lots of SBS & ABC etc less commercials that way :D
Ok when you get it sorted let me know and we will flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

BTW I will be asking you about the Rotopod, great thing but my heli wobbles around a lot, but I will explain more later..

Cheers Ralph

team222badbrad
09-24-2007, 08:45 AM
About the rotopod.

I suggest that you flatten the rotopod instead of using the angled holes.

i actually had an incident when I was learning and had the rotopod sticks in the angles holes.

One leg hit the tall grass and caught causing a blade strike with the ground.

Adding the rotopod is like hanging a brick to your heli.

Flattening your rotopod should make the wobbles better.

When the legs are angled like that you are leverage or more weight to the heli.

I guess you could call it the pendulum effect.

Get what I am trying to say?

I got all problems sorted with RF. Vista has its issues, but thats Microsoft 4 yah.

Here are the specs: I paid $635 USD including taxes and shipping.

A couple years ago I picked up that laptop on the left for $1,500. :D
The lappy still runs good, I just reformatted her today. A couple months ago the internal wireless card died and that is the only hardware issue I have had with it.

09-24-2007, 09:40 AM
Wow!! That's a truck load of specs, and by the looks of it, it will put you in good stead for quite some time :) The 19" monitor will make it easier on the eye's for our 5.00 am G3.5 flying nights/mornings :D Well the Rotopod, my intention is to unload it ASAP, but she has some design issue's IMHO, I agree I think I will lower it and that should make it more stable, when I was watching it yesterday the wobble which is fore and aft, and left and right (particularly when throttle was increased) seemed to stem from the rubber washers which according to the instructions should have the narrow side facing the mount points, this really allows for a lot of movement, hence the wobble, also the base mounting strap is very narrow, and because of the CofG the chopper has to be mounted so far back, like almost back to the rear vertical strut leg, because of this that narrow aluminium strap only support the heli on 30mm of strap, so the end result is the fore and aft bouncing wobble (oscillation) which just became more pronounced on throttle up, and you can actually see the horizontal landing skid flex by about 1/2'' way to much IMHO (sorry for long description) Anyway I will try the lowered set-up, if she still bounces I will make my own base plate in a "H" configuration to distribute the weight more evenly.

Ok Brad, I just want to thank for your help, with this project, your input as well as others has been great, but the ball is in my court, standby for lift off!! :)
Good night its time for Myth Busters!!
Cheers Ralph

Its bed time for me Ralph.

I cranked my locknut down so that the rotopod requires a fair amount of force before it will rotate.

It also helped to keep the one stick parallel with the tail for protection. :D

FFS
If you give me $5,000,000 i will buy you one. Otherwise I will give you a tip on finding the price. It called the internet, you will find it on your computer. This is the internet that the forum is on. You can find anything on the internet even sims. see that google bit or search engine above the web page. type it there and you never no your luck it may pop up showing the sim. You might be able to get one for less than the quote i gave you but then again you best to buy it from me as i can drop the price to $4,000,000 this week. Look most of us have wifes or partners, we try to escape all the small questions they always chatting about, by going to the garage to work on the heli or find out info on it. the last thing we want is repeat short questions. When we in that time of our own hobby pleasure

Here is a good tip, do your own home work and really search a product before buying it. As at the end of the day people like to make money. here is an example for you. I bought a metal lathe second hand for $2500 I used it for over 1 year and the time came i need to sell it. i put on a site like ebay and the guy paid $3800 for it. you could buy it brand new from the same place i bought it for $3500, if he had done his home work he could of avoided spending an extra $300 and had something brand new.

We always happy to help here but there sometimes becomes a line

R50

Believe me I'm very easy on it, and it still broke. It's fixed anyways. All you do is put in small screws where the plastic pins used to be on the gimbal levers.

10-14-2007, 04:35 AM
Mine broke also and I don't abuse Interlink either.

I just sent mine back for repair and they sent me a new one because they didn't have parts in stock.

Many weeks later they sent another used one so now I have two :D

Now I have a backup :p

They new one is still going strong.

FYI I purchased the new G3.5 version when it came out.

Yes Troy, I was rather disappointed with that answer as well :(
But its the same story with any hard/software you buy these days, it soon becomes obsolete replaced by something else :(

vapochilled
11-02-2007, 11:31 PM
No, whats really shitty is that I pay $200 odd bucks for G3.5 less than a year ago, and now they want me to shell out for an upgrade that includes a controller I have allready!
I won't be getting G4..at all.
Stupid marketing that will likely bite them in the ass, the're trying to make a fast buck from all the people who will upgrade, because "it's new and improved".
Not really showing any interest in the buyers or even the G3.5 product itself.

Sorry, but I can't hold the 'software developer' side of me locked up anymore...

Technically, Real Flight G3 came out around December 2004 (judging by a review I found).

Real Flight G3.5 is a free upgrade given to users of G3. Later on, they packaged it all as Real Flight G3.5 to save people having to download it, or send for an upgrade disc.

Now it's 2007, 3 years later, and they are releasing their next version (aka sequel).

Just because you, or anyone else, bought G3.5 less than a year ago doesn't mean they should give G4 as a cheap/free upgrade, or even support G3.5 connectivity with G4.

Working as a game developer I know engines change, code changes, art changes. Sometimes you can't support old versions without sacrificing something in the new version. If you want to make the best product you can, sometimes you need to revamp the way things work. This may mean that older versions may no longer work or connect with newer versions. Just look at what happened with every Windows 'upgrade' :p.

They did go through the trouble to make sure all the G3.5 expansions you purchased work in G4. So you can't just say they are not thinking about all the G3.5 users out there.

To put it another way, let's say you bought a copy of Halo 2 a few months before Halo 3 was released. You had fun, but now that Halo 3 is out and you just realized you can't play your Halo 2 with Halo 3 players. Microsoft/Bungie is now asking you to pay more to be able to play the latest and greatest Halo. It's the same game, just with some new content and features. Would you boycott Halo 3 because of this?

It's a similar situation. The only difference here is that it costs $200 vs $60. One of the reasons it costs so much more is the price of development vs. the number of copies that can potentially be sold. Three years of development cost a lot of money, and to be honest, RC flight simulators will not sell as many copies as other kinds of software even if they were cheaper. I won't even begin to get into the piracy issues also at work....

In defense of the users out there, a rebate program for owners of G3.5 would help a lot. It basically says you, the user, have already invested in the product and would only need to pay for the extra development cost of G4 (plus cost of a new controller). I am not aware if a rebate program is in effect, or will be, but it would indeed be a good thing.

Another good thing that will come from this is the 'fire sale' that will happen to all the copies of G3.5 out on shelves still. This will give an avenue for all the people who want a quality RC simulator, but don't want to pay $200.

Owners of G3.5 can also sell their copy of G3.5 to these same people, to help offset the cost of G4 (like the 'used game' racket Gamestop has).

Ok.... I'll lock up the 'software developer' side of me again, and let the RC Heli side free now.... Sorry for the rant....

As for me, I plan on getting G4, and I've only owned G3.5 for about 4 months. I think the new controller with digital trims will be nice. I hate how my G3.5 controller trims keep getting bumped around.

I also wouldn't mind having 2 sims. Then I can keep G3.5 at my work for those late nights, and have G4 at home .

<Update>
Looking around a little more, I see they will be having a rebate for G3.5 users. Just no info yet on how much, or when.

Could of saved yourself half an hour by reading my post, :)
I never said I wanted it free?
I don't need a new controller, the "old" one works just fine, it's being changed to help marketing.
New software engine, well we'll see on that one, but I'm willing to bet it's simply a re-code as opposed to an entire new engine. reason being if the old add ons work, it's very unlikely to be a whole new code.
My "gripe" is simply that these products are getting away from "serious" training tools and becoming more game like in both content and marketing.
It's fine that there's a ready and willing cue of people ready to fork out their clearly not so hard earned cash, I'm just not one of them
