I'm thinking about buying/building a T-Rex and am now looking at radios. It seems like there's enough radios for every day of the year. I need help sorting through all the clutter and find a radio that's going to be able to do some 3-D stuff (eventually) as well as be used for helis to come.

 I too am building a T-Rex. My radio of choice was a JR 9303 due to its versatility. The radio has nine channels, a 30 model memory (not that I have 30 models) and is loaded with extras. I like the pre-programed swash settings and the fact that setting up a new model is a breeze. I purchased it at HobbyTown from a friend with just the Tx and Rx for $430.00. While this may seem a bit expensive, this radio will also allow me to use it with my fixed wings, or if I ever get into gliders(doubtfull  ), will control them as well. I bought it without the servos, because I would rather choose the ones I want to use on each particular model and felt as though they would go to waste.
Don't overlook the Optic 6, just steer clear of the spectra module for right now as it sems to be causing most all the problems. I'm still a very beginner at all this heli stuff but the seperate throttle and pitch trims at the finger tips are cool, sweet to be able to bump the throttle curve a bit when my nimh starts to flatten.
I really need to go lipo, but then I might be tempted to abuse the T-Rex and I am thrilling myself enough with my arf #36 just hovering...

If I were to buy right now I'd get the JR 9303. As I say that I currently fly the Futaba 9C which would be my second choice. I bought my 9C before the 9303 came out so all my receivers are Futaba so it makes sense to stick with my 9C :) . Get either one of these radios and you will be very happy with them.
