Locke is east of us so head west and get off the NYS Thruway at Palmyra/Manchester exit (Rt. 21), not sure the exit # and head north. Got about 6 miles to the town of Palmyra until you come to a stop light at Rt. 31. Cross 31 continuing north for about 2 miles until you cross the RR tracks. Take a left on Macedon Ctr. Rd and it is about 2 miles down. Look at the map on http://www.rcplane.com web site for a map from the intersection of Rt. 21 and rt. 31.

I just joined the club this year and the first time I went out him and his father came by. He was walking around with a TREX and I didn't think much of it. His father was getting the 90 ready. Some one yelled Kyle is going to fly and everyone brought their planes/helis down. I thought it was the father until he called for Kyle. Unbelievable flying. He was flying at the RC Plane show yesterday at the club.

Cuzz,
Looking at where Pittston is your best and fastest route is to get on 81 North, take it up to Syracuse and get on 90 West, which is the NYS Thruway. Then follow the directions I gave Jeff. The NYS Fair just west of Syracuse is on that weekend too, worth a stop if you have the time.

Your welcome Jeff and Cuzz.
Last weekend was our clubs Plane fun fly and Kyle was there. He flew his 90 as usual. Did a really impressive upside down, backwards flight down the runway about 3 feet high. Rock steady all the way. I cannot even do that right side up, forward.
First time I went was last year and Curtis Youngblood was here, that is when I only had my blade and MX. My wife said "Why don't get you get a larger heli like his?" Didn't have to ask twice.
I did do a buddy box fly a 40 size trainer plane last weekend at the plane event, much easier than an heli. Might get one to fly around while I'm waiting for heli parts
See you there.

I am pretty sure it is a fun fly as long as you have your AMA card. I will double check though.

Not go off topic, but I meant to comment on this.
My wife said "Why don't get you get a larger heli like his?" Didn't have to ask twice.
That's awesome. My wife is very supportive of my helis. She bought my 1st and 3rd helis. Now she says I can get a 90sized. The heli fund has begun. :D
I got my AMA so I'm good to go.

Cuzz,
The official rely:
Keith, yes, it is an open fun fly. Please have them bring their helis!
There will be a "landing fee" of approx $15 and that will include a
t-shirt and meal card for non-club members (and a hobby knife if they
get there before they are gone
My wife is the same, my first wife was all about her but that is an entirely different story.

Ok so I might be heading on up to this event with Cuzz.
Do we have to register and pay ahead?
OR
Can we just show up and pay the $15?
kcgraves
08-15-2007, 09:30 AM
Just show up. Registration is at the field. Just bring your AMA card and heli(s).
There is a sign across from the stone driveway that goes up to the field. When you get to the field there is pilot parking up front by the building/picnic tables/tents. Park as close as you can since you have helis. There is a wooden structure in the middle that we keep our frequency pins, radios, etc. That is where the checkin table will be.

I just checked the weather for the event.. lets hope the weather man is wrong about this one !
Here is the local papers forecast for Saturday. But you won't really know about next Saturday's weather until next Sunday. :D
Saturday
79°F | 55°F
Intermittent Clouds
Decreasing clouds, a shower in the morning. After a cloudy start, sunshine returns in the afternoon. A moonlit sky in the evening. A moonlit sky overnight.
kcgraves
08-20-2007, 11:06 AM
So, I checked this morning and now the Saturday forecast is:
Saturday
82°F | 62°F
Thunderstorms
Clouds and sun with a t-storm possible in the morning. Clouds and sun with a t-storm possible in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy with a couple of showers in the evening. Mostly cloudy with a couple of showers overnight.
But you can never trust the weatherman. So I will keep you all informed as the week progresses. That lake effect stuff doesn't only work in the winter around here.

Weather for Saturday is 91 degrees, high humidity with a 20-30% chance of thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon when a cold front comes through. Also going to get windy late, 15 to 20 MPH gusts. But overall not a washout.

I am all rested up after being up for over 33 hours. I had a nice 12 - 13 hour snooze last night! :D
That was really good. I don't recall any helicopter dreams though
I had a great time and flying Scott Gray's machine made my day. I also won a helimax portable starter, but still flying his machine was much better than winning the starter.
Scott set up his tent right next to ours so that was cool too.
Seeing him fly was absolutely amazing. It was also nuts to see a 5 year old and 11 year old flying like have been doing before birth.
