I was thinking of converting my 450XL tailboom to the shorter version that's used on the 450X CDE.
I understand that it gives you a quicker tail response. From what I can tell, it looks as though the boom and belt would be the only parts that need changing over.
Has anyone tried this?

You don't find many people looking to "downgrade". Theoretically, the piro rate may increase due to a shorter boom, but you'll also be loosing valuable torque and holding power. Not to mention the need for shorter main blades. The tail response will not be noticeable using the short boom.
If you feel you need more response, I would recommend upgrading your gyro and/or tail servo or possibly increasing the mechanical gain on the tail.

Actually,I wasn't looking at it as a downgrade so much as a compromise. I understood it to give you a quicker tail response and faster 3D maneuvers.
Granted, I'm a long long way away from doing any 3D. It was something that I read on a forum and was wondering if anyone had tried it.
