I am wondering if the setup that i am going to purchase is going to be a wise investment and if im going to be able to learn how to fly with it. I used to fly model airplanes and now im deployed to iraq and working on helicopers and looking to get into r/c helicopters. Here is what ill be getting below. Any help would be appriciated. Tips on where to start etc..
The helicoper has only been flown once and never crashed it is being sold to me as a favor from one of my helicoper pilots.

The Freya is a great model the parts listed are top of the line. I would hate to see it balled up while learning. Take it slow. Having some planker experience will help a lot with forward flight but the key is learning a good, solid hover.
As always, sims are great tools to get started with.

Thanks for the help and Ive been practicing on a simulator to be exact great planes realflight simulator g2 ive yet to get my hands on the g3 series thats the only part that sucks about being deployed to iraq right now. I am olny going to pay about 1000 for the whole set up and am looking forward to getting home and in the air. What fuel should i use and what are some good places to find parts i can find airplane suff anywhere but heli stuff im still learning. I read ever artical in you magizine and am trying to make this transistion as easy as possible. Thanks again and any help is always appriciated.

The G2 sim will be just fine to learn on. I've never compared G2 and G3 so I can't say how much different they are.
As far as Hirobo parts, hopefully someone that has this model will respond to this thread as I don't fly Hirobo models. You could check you LHS once you get back home but most that I know of don't stock parts for these. I could suggest some online retailers, but again, I don't have experience with Hirobo dealers.
The fuel can be of widely varying opinions. I prefer a quality 30% with high oil content (~23% oil). Most major brands are very similar so choose the one you like. If your on a budget and just learning, a 15%-20% fuel should be adequate.

If your looking for a online source for parts look at the advertisers in the magazine, that would be a great place to start. I live about 300 miles from Heliproz so they are my favorite, I get parts within 3 days, and I know they have a lot of parts for Hirobo. Thats a great deal on a slightly used heli if you pass on it let me know I might want to buy it.

I dont think that i will be passing this one up. Sorry to good of a deal im guessing to get into the hobby i have been going through the ads in the magizine but they arrive slow for me bec my wife has to mail them to me out in iraq. I read somewhere else of a place called ricks does anyone know of that website? Ive been looking arround as much as my slow internet will allow. Thanks for all the help. :D

No problem I didn't think you would pass up that deal, but I still had to ask.
As far as Rick's goes I don't know much about them but I have never heard any thing bad about them, and the one order I did place with them was just fine. Of course it took longer to get my order from Texas than it does from Montana. The only thing I didn't like about there web site was it didn't tell you if an item was in stock and would not give me a price when I checked out, but they do send an E-mail or call with that information before they ship.
BTW Rick's RC heli is not at that web address check out, http://www.ronlund.com/
its the same place with 2 names  :p
