On the radio front, by far the biggest news at the iHobby Expo was the new DX6 radio from Spektrum. For a little over a year now the car guys have been using 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology. Since cars travel on one plane and, well, helicopters don't, there's been a challenge for radio designers to build a system suitable and safe enough for helicopters. After years of development, Spektrum thinks they have it. There are some warnings to be heeded with the new system, though. It's designed for use in smaller electric helicopters, meaning micros and 400-size at the largest, and the range is rather limited. Look for more information on this new release in Issue 2 of RC Heli magazine, on-sale November 29th.
