I was wondering if it is a preferred method of "Running In" this engine on an engine test stand as opposed to in the Heli for the first few tanks of fuel?If it is recommended, then what size of propeller should I use? I have a Aluminum test stand already which I have used to break in all of the other R/C Aircraft engines I own. Also would this engine run good enough on 15% Omega Heli fuel? as opposed to 30%. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have an OS 50 Hyper and for run-in, I just hovered it for 3 or 4 tanks running it "pig rich", then was easy on it for a while before really wrenching on it in flight for the rest of the first gallon and a little into the second. Haven't had any problems.

I run Wildcat 15% in it just for the little extra oil than most. It's best to stick with one fuel for the life of it unless you want to make mixture changes a lot. You can't really get bad fuel nowadays. I did have to run one gallon of Power Master through it (hobby store was out) and it stained my muffler. I had to re-polish it after and won't make that mistake again.

That is good advice.

I personally run one tank in the heli just idling than I hover for about 4 to5 tanks. After that I tune it to what I like and fly it. Keep your engine temp under 200 and you will be fine.

For fuel, use something with synthetic oil in it as castor oil will stain.

Hey Guys, thanks for the fast replies. I just got back from a business trip so I haven't had time to reply. I have always broke in my OS engines on the test stand using a tachometer @ wide open throttle (WOT). I have used the high speed mixture screw to control the RPM/Cooling of the motor by constantly turning it in and out letting in run a little bit longer each time without overheating it. That is why I thought I would do the same for the Heli engine. Then after maybe 2 tanks of fuel install it and go hover for a few more tanks.Fasrc, when you say keep in under 200, you mean 200 F right? as opposed to 200 C ! Thanks, Beginner9
