Hi,

This is an extreme beginner question so please forgive me if I sound stupid.

When 25 years ago I was flying a Piper aiplane I didn't need a Glow Starter... I was starting the engine with my finger (and yes they were selling at that time a hard rubber finger in order to protect it!).

Now I am the proud owner of a Raptor 50 V2 and they talk about everything (on the manual) but how to start an Helicopter!

So I have a Remote Glow Plus extension set up and I have one of these 1.5 V Glow starter: do I simply "trigger" the spring and put the tip in contact with the tip of the Remote Glow plug extension? Then do I leave it like this while I crank up the engine using my 12 V Electric starter (I know I have to hold the main rotor head while doing this) - but I am not sure if that is the case how the Glow starter is going to remain in place...

Thank you so much for your time (and patience!)

Buman.

Yep!!! Just plug in the glow starter and hold the blades and crank away!!! Let it warm a second first, then take it out.

also what you might want to do is get a clamp for the fuel line going to the motor and as soon as your done flying clamp it to keep the motor from being flooded. If your done for the day just clamp the fuel line hold the rotor and let it burn itself out.

Thank you sooo much guys! It is very nice to have such a great forum available where people treat you with respect and understand the beginner aspect - love the magazine too!

So far this is one the most respectful sites out there I found people haven't turned mean yet...
Rotoboy was right just leave the glow plug igniter on until the engine starts and is running at a nice idle...BTW make damn sure that your throttle is set up correct you don't want to start that new bird with a wide open throttle.

It`s always good to have a place like this to go to when you have the simplest questions.
Look around in your town for other hobbiests who share your same interests, go to your local hobby shop I`m sure they will help you out with any questions and probably walk you through the ropes on setting up your new heli.
In any case this is a wonderfull hobby and you should take advantage of all the resources out there. Enjoy.
