I have an Apex Lightening power 2200Mah 11.1 volt lipo battery. It has a red and black lead and a white male plug. I'm going to use it in a Trex.
My question(s) is this:
1) Is the white male plug for charging and balancing or balancing only?
2) If it is for charging do I have to find/buy a charger that matches the male plug?
3) Is or can the red and black leads be used for charging?
4) What type of connectors are everyone else using on the red and black leads?
5) Deans,large deans,micro deans ultra deans?
6) What the heck is the difference between them anyhow?
I'm just about finished assembling my Trex. Getting ready to install the electrics and got stumped on this connector thing.

1) The white plug is used for charging AND balancing.
2) They make adapters for most lipo batteries to match almost any charger, but finding them is almost harder than sharpening your soldering skills and building them yourself.
3) The red and black leads can be used for charging, but the cells will eventually get out of balance and you'll lose performance from the battery.
4) On a T-Rex, you should be using Deans Ultra connectors, at least that's the most popular.
5) The Deans connectors are a high throughput connectors that you will need for the high amp draws that the T-Rex tends to draw. I'm sure there's other people out there using other connectors. It's really up to your preference as long as they can deliver the power you'll be needing on the T-Rex.
Good luck,
Troy

Thanks Troy! I knew I could count on you :D
By the way, hows the gasser coming? How do you adjust your flying skills between a trex, raptor and a gasser given the size difference or do they all pretty much fly the same?

Well, as far as hovering, the T-rex and the Raptor feel very similar. I set up the expo so that they respond very close at center stick. Once you puch the sticks on the T-Rex, though...That's when you gotta be a little more on top of stuff. I haven't flown the Predator yet. I ran some gas through it at the field (using a friend's pump), but I don't have a pump yet that will pump gas, only a glow pump, so I haven't been able to get any fuel into it. Believe me, I tore the garage and house apart last night looking for anything I could squeeze some gas into it with. No luck. It's on order, though. tic toc tic toc....more of the waiting game.
