Well, I finally sprung for a Century 500 D Fuse. Backordered it from Tower.

Well done Harold

Did the MD530 shell turn out to be to thin?

I thought i would post these pics to show how thin the fibreglass is on the Funkey Longranger. All areas that need strength have carbon fibre used to strengthen and the heli even thought the fibreglass feels very thin is very strong

here is a shot looking down from the tail and you can see how thin the fibreglass is. Where the two body halfs meet they run a length of carbon that looks like string along it. This is also used in places like the centre windscreen support

I am going to paint it myself. I have a production gun, a touch up gun, and an airbrush. I have not yet decided to do it with mlitary or civie colors ( what do you think of Khaki training gear  ).
I have heard a lot of good comments on Century's and Funkey's fuses. They use a good grade of ply and use carbon fiber to increase the stress areas.I downloaded the manual from Ace's site and I just was not as impressed with it. I really labored over this decision of which to go with - I guess only time will tell!
I'll take some pics this time (unless I screw something up and am too embarrassed :o )
I also intend to install working lighting system down the road.
Harold.

Any scale body will only turn out as good as the effort you put in now.
I have done many scale static models, all vary in quality at the start, but all can be improved, it's all hard work from here on in :D
