Has anyone bought or even taken a close look at the MD530 scale body for the Raptor Titan?

Thanks,
Harold.

Harold, What info are you looking for? I have a friend that has one in the box and If need be I can get him to open it up maybe snap some pics. I have offered to assemble it for him maybe I'll offer up again? I have seen a few of the TT scale jobs they are NO Len Mounts or Dr.Tim's scale quality but for the money you really cant go wrong..

Thanks GMONEY. I was wondering how flimsy it is. I don't expect too much at under $300 for a scale body but would like to know if it is just "stiff toilet paper" that will tear if you look at it wrong. I downloaded the manuel from Ace's site so I could get an idea about what is included and how it mounts. One of the guys at Heliproz said it was about 1/64" thickness  . If that is true, I would think I might punch a hole in it while putting it together!

Would you mind taking a pic of it, while, somehow, holding a ruler or a dime or something next to an edge so I can get some idea of how thick the fiberglass really is? Unless you have a micrometer to measure it.

Also, how is the paint job and how do you think it would hold up? Is the inside bare 'glass in case I wanted to add some resin and webbing to reinforce it?

Is he interested in selling it if I am interested in buying it?

Thanks,
Harold.

Hey Mr. C5 :) , how goes the battle? I figured by now you would have that thing running, crashed, and repaired again :D !! Are you savoring every little moment or just getting slower in your old age;) ??

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if anybody had spare parts for this thing or would I have to dream up something.

Take care,
Harold.

Hello Harold,
No mate I'm waiting on parts to finish C5 but hopefully they will be here late this week,
Back to the scale ship, Ricks RC Heli do sell parts for the MD machine "WE HAVE SPARE PARTS FOR THIS FUSELAGE MD-530 SCALE FUSELAGE" its say that on his site so maybe an email to him for more info-However I cant find any spec's on it (so far) I will keep an eye out, I understand your concern 1/64 is very thin.
Cheers Ralph

I just bought one for myself. I haven't put it on yet, but I have taken it out and looked at it. the construction looks to be fair. the inside is bare glass and the paint seems to be ok. I don't think that you will punch a hole in it putting it together unless you're really abuse it.

Thanks for the info. When you get it in the air, please let me know how it flys.

Did you buy a 'glass canopy for your bird? If so, is it thicker than that or about the same?

Good Luck,
Harold.

Hey Greg, thanks for the pics. Looks like you did yourself proud.

After seeing that - now I am wondering how the heck I am going to carry it to where we fly!!! I have enough problems trying to get the stock Titan into the car without breaking something!

Thanks again for so much info!
Harold.

ok guys had a busy weekend finishing off teh littlebird , first off was to finish teh apinting ,hten rivet patterns and access and inspection panels then a couple of arieals and finally redo the lights and paint the windsreen ,following is the detail pics and i am quiet happy with the outcome ,didnt go crazy with rivets as too many on a 50 size looks wrong plus on the real littlebird there arent that many rivet lines that stand out
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r106/wte-iceaxe/newmd1.jpg
some inspection panels with rivets and other detail
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r106/wte-iceaxe/newmd2.jpg
more rivet lines around the engine covers
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r106/wte-iceaxe/newmd4.jpg
rivet lines around the doors and fast rope system
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r106/wte-iceaxe/newmd7.jpg
more inspectin pionts and rivet detail
for lights i now have green strobe on tail red strobe on top and bottom and green solid on right front and white solid left front all easily seen in daylight
