Hey gang,
Longtime, firstime here...Have enjoyed my Blade CX for the past three weeks or so...Easy to fly and a fun way to start RC Heli...Anyway, the last few days the 'copter has been making a noise at the start of the flight, twitching sharply to the left, losing altitude, and once it has even just dropped right out of the air, the battery still showing a green light on the 4in1 unit. Any ideas? Have only had minor crashes that have chipped off tips of top blades.
Thanks for any help
Franz

Have you replaced the damaged blades? If not that could cause all sorts of problems. Just a little damage can cause lift and yaw problems.

Hi crash34,
Yes, I have replaced the upper and lower blades once...I found that one time when I had crashed, only the tip of one of the upper blades had broken, so I trimmed it off at an angle like the original, and then snipped the other top blade to the same length to match it...Only a little extra rudder trim was needed to keep the CX heading straight. But with new blades, I'm still having this recent problem of twitching to the left (tail goes right) and sometimes the bird just drops out of mid air...

I too am having trouble with my cx. I bought the thing, when i went to fly it, the plastic tip
at the top broke, it caused the heli to tip over, i replaced the shaft with the metal end instead. now the heli tips backwards and no amount of trim helps. I took everything apart and checked for problems, and cant find a thing wrong. Any one have any ideas? :(

I have a blade CX that has seen a lot of crashes but has always been OK after a rebuild. The last crash I left the throttle on and smoked the 4 in 1. After installing a new 4 in 1 and replacing the Stabalizer Fly bar holder with the new metal one the heli vibrates severly when the blades get up to flying speed. I've replaced both shafts, and all 4 blades, lubricated all the bearings and tightened all screws. It still vibrates. When I use Yaw control to slow one of the motors the vibration goes away. It doesn't matter which motor slows, the vibration stops until I bring them both back to flying speed and then the vibration comes back.

Any one else experience this and is there a fix?

Have you checked the upper link connecting the upper blades to the stabalizer bar? If that is too long or short the upper blades wont fly level and can cause vibration. To check it hold the heli in your hand and spin it up slowly while looking at the upper blades. If you can see 2 blades where the upper blades are rotating than its out of alignment. Adjust the link shorter or longer until when you spin the throttle up you can only see one blade on the upper rotor. There's information about this in the manual but I don't have mine here so I cant tell you what page to check, but just flip through it and you'll find it. Let me know if this helps.

This is most likely being caused by damage to the large main gear for the upper or lower rotor. There are probably damaged or missing teeth and that causes the noise and the twitching is being cause by one of the pinion gears on a motor hitting a spot in the main gear with no teeth so that rotor loses power for a split second. Also check that the aluminum collar below the swash plate is all the way down so the shafts cant move up and down. Then check to make sure lower main gear isn't too close to the bottom of the inner main shaft because that could cause the upper shaft to slide up and down so the pinion and main gear aren't always in contact, and that would damage the main gear also. Last thing to check are both of the motors, if a motor is about to die it may be making a strange noise and glitching occasionally causing the strange yawing action. Check these things and see if it helps your problem.

Make sure that the servo links and links on the lower rotor head are all fine and theres no damage or cracking on any of the parts. But my first guess to the problem is the balance of the heli. With the battery in pick the heli up by the stabalizer bar and see if it's tilting forward or backward, my guess is that it would be leaning towards the back. If that's the case just try flexing the battery mount with the velcro forward a little bit to move some of the weight forward.

Have you messed with the porportional control on the 4in1? Look in your manual for information about porportional on the 4in1. I'm guessing that is causing the problems in the yaw.

I have the same problem! Wtf? Is the new metal end inner shaft unbalanced???
