hi there all forum users,
new to the whole rc world and having blast so far, finally broke down and bought myself my first rc..a blade cp, now having never had rc anything everyone was warning me about everything, how hard helis are to pick up how often im going to smash it to bits and need to rebuilt..(which isnt so bad cause i love to tinker;) ) and so on and so on..bought i was determined, read all i could to make a wise choice in my first and somewhat "affordable" heli..and off to the LHS i went, now even the person helping me was telling me how i would need tons of spare blades and shafts and all...whatever,
i'm not sure if its partly due to my knowledge of helicopter aeronautics and principles, see i fly the real ones for a living, or if its my countless hours of halo 2 that gave me good thumb hand eye co-ordination..lol but by the end of the second charge on the stock battery i was hovering rock solid in my basement, i bit tricky when you arent sitting in the thing feeling its motion..hi hi, after a week of non stop flying, waiting while i charge then flying more i buckled, went for a peak ultra charger, 11.1v 1200mha lipo and hop up kit, sym blades 9t pinion gear heat sinks. i actually went with 2 on the tail motor, was told it increases motor life significantly. the lhs was kinda insinuating i might be exagerating so once i rebuilt it i brought it back to get help with tracking and pitch settings, then proceeded to over in the store to theire dissbeleif..lol nice feeling after being told how often id wreck it ;).
now i got my pitch gauge my balancer and a nice compliment of micro tools,as well as my first good crash.. ive kept the newby bars on since im the kind of guy who tends to go by leaps and bounds.. so once i could hover all over my basement and landed on a few coffee tables i thought i could hover nose in...man was i wrong..lol i know the controls are flipped and i stayed steady during the tail turn but i reverted to instinct trying to correct and promptly put her rotor head down first..lol
so after 3 weeks now of flying in my house..due to winds and rain here..all ive busted is one set of flat blades..that still fly and i use, and bent a drive shaft, replaced already.
but i've been told forward flight is easier then nose in so i guess ill wait patiently for nice weather then try my luck...any tips on attempting forward flight would be good...i figured id just keep turning one way as i spin to always look at one side for attitude control, then sooner or later ill just up and turn the other way...guess ill find out soon enought...
so, sorry all for the rant but now your up to sped on my rcheli lifespan..lol
i hope its a long one cause this guys hooked...but sadly they wont let me fly in the hangar at work..something about fear of hitting a multi million dollar machine... i think the other pilots are just envious
a few quick questions.
- ive been told the tail motor on a cp usually last only about 15 flights but i've had way more then that...any clues or tell tale signs? its tracking and holding just fine
- when hovering indoors i can never get the gain to hold the tail straight, i suspect its rotorwash affecting it from the close walls?
- when the led's in the remote go to yellow how long till red and can i wait till then to put new bats or change at yellow before crash?
ooooh..just heard the charger beep...gotta go back to flying..
bye for now
