View Full Version : Setting Trim

I just started with RC heli's and have only about 1.5 hours flying time in my basement. I purchased a Blade CX and my skills have improved to the point that I can hover and do simple maneuvers.

My problem is that I seem unable to find a sweet spot for trim alignment. With a fresh battery I can control the heli quite well, although the aileron trim has to be set almost all the way to the right. However, within two or three minutes of flying, I have to start moving the aileron joystick in increasing amounts up and to the right, else the helo begins slipping to the left and rear.

I tried small adjustments to the main motor proportional mix trimmer pot without much success.

My assumption is that I have some sort of servo control that is not quite right.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I have a CX also and have the same problem. In the instructions they say that as the pack runs down the blade speeds change and more rudder input will be needed to keep the heli pointed in the right direction. I have found the same thing with mine and it drives me insane.

Hey guys.. I have a solution for you. My CX wanted to yaw CONSTANTLY.. no matter where the trim was set at. Even with the heat sinks installed I had issues.

The culprit is heat. I did 2 simple mods (1 of which I don't suggest unless you are really comfortable with it) and the problem disappeared. As a matter of fact, my tail is rock solid now with need for very little trim once the pack wears down a bit.

1. Get out your dremel and put some cooling holes down the windscreen of your canopy. I also put some on the sides of the helo as well.

The above will help, but probably not completely cure the problem.

2. The following step is ONLY if you are comfy with electronics and voiding your warranty :)... I removed the 4in1 unit from the case and taped it back in. Some people simply put cooling holes in the case as well but I preferred to keep it outside of the case. I can always add it back in later. Please be careful when doing this mod... I'd hate to see you ruin a board.

Anyway ... here is a link to what the mod should look like:
