Well, I guess I’m the new guy here. I have been into rc cars and trucks for a LOOONG time, and I have had so many different cars and trucks from m18's to xxx-s g+ to an rc10gt and right now I have a Savage. I never really thought about rc helis until I saw an episode of that rc show on DIY. What happened to that show anyways? But anyways Chris was hovering a micro heli, I forgot which one it was but I was so amazed I knew I had to have one. I’m kind of looking around for a micro, but I’m not really sure where to start. From what I have read, I should prepare for my wallet to loose some weight lol :D
Hey welcome aboard. Alot of choice depends on how easy it is to get parts in your area. nothing sucks more than waiting on part to show up at the door. Another point to consider is what do people in your area fly? If you have a simialr machine than getting local help for your first heli will be alot easier to come by. Hope this helps some. :D

Welcome to the hobby! I'm pretty new to this as well, but I'll give you my two cents worth :) I bought a Blade CP, and had it for about 2 weeks now with one major crash that cost me $45 worth of damage (very low cost). Its a pretty good micro heli to start at, tho a double bladed heli (like the Blade CX) is easier to fly. I have two buddies that both have CPs and 6 months experience between the two, so they are a big help to me when I have questions. If there is one thing I would suggest you do is TAKE YOUR TIME. I started getting use to controling the tail by using the training gear and staying close to the ground. I can now hover with little effort up to 10 feet high, and fly around as long as I keep the tail towards me, but I'm not in any rush. Whatever heli you choose I wish you the best of luck and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome. From what I heard, learning to fly a heli is no easy task, so I will be sure to take things very slow and to get some training gear as well. I like the idea of micro helis, so I want to stick with them. I am really thinking about the one from venom, it looks very nice and im sure it is good quality. I can't believe how expensive it is to fix some of this stuff, it almost makes me not want to get a heli. :( .... i was on hellihobby.com and I did a combo thing for one of those t rex helis and the grand total came out to about 800 bucks. I was like wtf. These things are really expensive, im so used to cars and trucks.
Coming from the RC Car world I totally understand your dillema. I started with a Blade CP as well. Simply becasue I could get parts at my local Hobby Town USA. ;) The CP is easy to fix, parts are cheap and it flies well. I spent $220 for the BCP, $14 for training gear, and a couple of bucks for Tx batteries. The heli came with a charger but I opted to use my MRC charger instead. All in all its been a wonderful experience.
I will warn you now though it is addictive. In my case VERY addictive. lol
Like Mike said just take it slow and you will find your efforts to be very rewarding. If you decide on a Blade CP and need some help there are plenty of people on here that are knowledgable and very willing to help.

lol. Very true. A car can only do so much, but a heli whoa. I am sure that I will become highly addicted. Now all I need is to find out how to mount a mini gun on it so I can shoot my neibors... I mean soda cans. LOL :p
