Ok I just finished up a Raptor 30/50 and a 60/90 3D canopys. They are great. I really like the way they came out. The weather broke today so I headed for the beach to get some pics for all to see. These bad boys are very shiny! You can see the reflection of the broken see shells in the sand on the sides. Take a look below and enjoy!!

Once again they where done with iwata HP series airbrushes and mini paint guns. All automotive paints. The lettering and everything with the exception of the girls is paint.

Catch you soon with some more pics of canopys.

Oh yes!, These pics are taken on my Venture 50 airframe cause that is what I have right now.

How much are you selling them for?

cruzzinchop

Raptor canopys are going for going for 30/50 size $175.00 and the 60/90 size are $200.00. That includes me supplying the fiberglass canopy. Then actual shipping to your zip.

Any questions just ask!!!

That's not a bad price at all. I know a guy that charges $100 just for doing vinyl.
Very sweet paint jobs!!!!

I think these canopies pay for themselves by providing a little more incentive not to crash your heli :D

LOL! I think you are right!!! Dont want to put a sweet heli into the tarmac. :D

Motions,

My price is right in with most the competition, but my style is a whole new ball game.

Thanks guys!

I just can't see paying that much for a canopy to sit on the shelf. Because you KNOW I wouldn't fly it on my bird. I would mourn a crash with that canopy on there. :D

Very nice!

I'll look you up for a Vargas T-Rex canopy in a few weeks. Have you done any of those?

[edit]

Whoops! I just saw the other thread!

have you considered vacuum forming the cockpits out of styrene, it would be half the work for you, comparing to fiberglass anyway, and for everyone else they could be a little less costly and therefore in the unfortunate event their heli crashes and the cockpit is all skrewed up, there wont be much hesitation to just get a new one. this would mostly beginners or those of us who just cant fly the darn things straight, just a thought

Cruz,

What can you do with this idea for a T-Rex:

Name 'Brynnehilde' in Runic-ish or King Arthur-ish font (Odin's daughter - the Norse Valkyrie)
Pale redhead (Boris-, Rowena- or Vargas- type) (NO silicone! bleah!) (spear or bow optional, no sword, armor or pointy hat)
Rolling black thunderclouds / some white-pale blue highlights (lightning?)
(optional) milky blue swirly canopy
(optional) black raven / crow
(optional) everything over a bottom edge of night / evening skyline
'no step' and other graphics are okay

Does this seem like a balanced idea?

If this idea sparks any interest in you I'd like to see a rough mockup whenever you get the chance and a vague idea of the cost. I don't mind the idea of a 'show canopy' at all. I kind of like it actually. I can scuff up a cheapo/OEM and save the nice one for showing off when it's not flying.. you know.. like while I'm ordering parts. :)

You can post it here in the forum so everyone gets to see your stuff or e-mail me the preview if you'd like.

Looking forward to it!

Mike

Hey Mike,

All the ideas you have there are great. I have been putting my web site together and on the T Rex canopy page there will be a link to a black and white line drawing of the profile of the Rex canopy. This will make a great spot for others to get there ideas down. I will use this template myself either later tonight or tomorrow and show your ideas on the canopy. The web site (mine) will be up and fully functional in the next few days. http://www.carnivorecanopys.com

Show canopys is what most guys are doing when they get one from me. Once it is in your hand and you see your reflection in the awesome clear and paint you will want to show it off and save the beater for flying.

Prices of the T Rex are as follows.

#1 I supply the fiberglass canopy $100.00 shipped priority mail.

#2 You supply the fiberglass canopy (NEW) $80.00 shipped Priority mail.

I also have canopy cover that will be available for the T rex and Raptor canopy's.

Camo, Black and Red. Soft Flannel that slides over the canopy to protect the paint while travelling or storing. T Rex covers are $15.00 and if bought with a painted canopy $10.00.

They will be on my web site also under the Rex catagory.

Thanks,
Jason

loonyboy30,

Nope I can do any! I preffer fiberglass over plastics though. But I have and can do any heli canopy's.
:D

On this thread the 2 helis are Raptors.

Jason,

I just ordered the heli and it should take a week or so to come in, so there's no real rush. I figure 2 weeks to hash out the ideas, let you do your stuff and do the payment thing.

A hundred bucks for a nice new canopy isn't too bad. I think we can shake on it.

I look forward to seeing the draft and will check your site for updates.

cheers!

Mike

p.s. I googled 'spearmaiden' and got two decent images. I'm sure there are better ones, though. I also drew out a line drawing of a trex canopy.. and you can pretty much leave off the 'night sky at bottom' bit and stick with black thunderclouds w/ white lightning. Not enough real estate to work with. And the crow could be a shapeless black background for the girl to stand out.

Sounds great Mike, I will get slowed up here a bit and put those ideas together also. Catch you shortly!
Thanks,
