Does anyone no why futaba gyros don't mix with jr servos? When i bought my heli it had some jr servos on it which were acording to the guy were not to bad. I had the aileron servo fail and then last week while i was checking my heli over before i took it out for a fly I noticed the tail servo was not working. i turned heli off and then back on and started to notice smoke coming from the servo. when i stripped servo i found the wires just where they join the pcb were black and looked like the tracks were burnt as well. When i hooked up a futaba servo to the gyro there was no issue. I would say the tail servo was a higher end jr servo as it had metal gears. has anyone else had problems mixing radio brands. NOTE that now all jr servos have been removed and futabas have been used and tail servo works fine

Smokey was a NES 810G and all the other ones were ES 539. Sorry i don't no a great deal about jr gear

the JR 810G is NOT a digital servo. I would assume you have a GY401. Was your gyro in "DS" mode when you powered it up?

What is the 810
That is a servo.

Yeah but is coreless or brushed, what makes it different to the normal standard servo other than the metal gears and being larger

I am a Fut guy. I don't know too much about (nor do I like) anything JR. I cant tell you too many specifics about your JR servo.
I dont know why your servo smoked. Maybe it was just time for it to go. I wonder if it is something as simple as a fried capaciter or something.

Maybe it was time for the servo to die. It sounds like you have the gyro on DS mode.
I'm not all that familiar with JR. I like keeping my electronics all the same company. I'm all Futaba.
I know the GY series gyros are the best, so why mix a JR servo with the Futaba gyro?
You can't go wrong with a gy series gyro and a matching futaba digital servo to hold the tail like a rock.
Hope you get it figured out!

The JR 810G is a standard high speed servo. It is NOT digital and is rated for 4.8 volt only operation. I have used this servo successfully on both the Futaba GY401 and the JR G500T gyros. If you're using it with a BEC or battery pack that delivers 6.0 volts, it will burn out this servo.
The Futaba GY240 gyro does not produce digital servo frame rates - so that shouldn't be an issue here - but for the future remember, you can't run an analog servo at a digital servo's frame rate. Assuming that your not running at 6.0v system it is most likely just a defective servo.

Thanks cb i think you have just pointed out what the issue was ( 6volt power pack) oh well the days of jr have come to a end now. I lasted a few flights on the 6 volt but maybe after charging the battery to go out flying may have just lifted it a bit to high and blown it. Must say GY gyros are a great series, heli came with a jr one but futaba gyro seemed to lock in much better.
