Ahhhh....It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Wisconsin today. Broke the 50 degree mark. With that, I charged up my Raptor 50 (which has been mothballed all winter) and fired her up for the first time of the year. It was like it was more ready to go than I was. Fired off like it had just been run yesterday. I hovered a tank to get rid of all the oil put in the engine to preserve her and began the loops and rolls. Had to make some minor mixture and throttle changes because of the cooler air, but man it was good to smell the sweet smell of glow fuel again!!! Supposed to be around 50 tomorrow as well. I'll have to dirty her up again for that.
The T-Rex looked a little lonely sitting there in the back of my truck, so I ran a battery through her for good measure as well. She looks content now. I forgot how sweet it was to fly the big birds. You electric guys don't know what you're missing!

I hope to get to that level, but until then I will have to be content with my little micro. The biggest hurdle for me will not be increasing my flying skill but convincing my financial institution (my wife) to spot me the money needed to buy a bigger helo. :(

sgtmaike74, You could do what I did...dream up some type of work involving r/c helis, then tell her that everything you buy will be a right off. So far, shes bought it :D

All of my heli money comes from my second job. I'm a Utility worker by day and a DJ a night or two a week. You can finance this hobby quite well on 2 shows/week and it keeps the wife off my back about all the money I spend.
Afterthought. You can always tell the ex-military guys who get into heli's...They always start out by calling them helos, like they do in the military. It took me some time to get used to it as well. I hated the term heli when I started and liked helo much more.

I took my wife and son to the hobby shop where I purchased my Blade CP. My son, who is 4, was amazed at the trains but my wife seemed indifferent towards the whole thing. I keep telling her that it’s cheaper then the other hobby I wanted to get into.....motorcycles!!!

Yeah, the initial investment in a motorcycle is far more expensive. Don't you think that is just makes good financial sense to go with the much cheaper hobby of RC heli's?! ;) My wife's pretty much indifferent to everything I do. She does like to see me happy though. She definately noticed a change in me when we got home from flying the Raptor. I liked flying my T-rex, but it's just such a rush to fly the big ones. A guy's just gotta have an outlet. If not a helicopter, I might just be stopping at the bars or something. At least this way you've got something to show for your money. LOL

I finance mine with a side job as well. She cant really complain if all of my paycheck goes to the family. tdswan I agree I had trouble at first wanting to use helo instead of heli............Semper Fi!
